The Responsible Online Gaming Association (ROGA) has taken a significant step towards enhancing the gambling industry’s responsible gaming efforts. According to ROGA Executive Director Dr. Jennifer Shatley, this new initiative marks an important milestone in the association’s mission to provide valuable resources that promote responsible gaming.

ROGA to Launch New Initiative

Recently, ROGA initiated a Request for Proposal (RFP) process to support operators’ continued commitment to responsible gaming standards. This process aims to establish a certification program that will maintain high gaming standards, protect players from harmful gambling practices, and ensure gaming remains fun and enjoyable.

ROGA is an independent association comprising eight of the largest online gambling companies in the United States. Established in March of last year, its members are dedicated to promoting evidence-based best practices for responsible gaming. Current members include DraftKings, FanDuel, bet365, BetMGM, Fanatics, Hard Rock Digital, Penn Entertainment, and Bally’s.

Beyond this initiative, ROGA is actively involved in educating the public and creating awareness initiatives aimed at consumers and the industry. The new initiative seeks to improve gambling industry standards by establishing a responsible gaming framework that covers critical areas such as self-exclusion, employee training, corporate policy, and more. ROGA aims to boost operators’ confidence in their existing responsible gaming practices and policies and emphasize a culture of continuous improvement that integrates responsible gaming into the patrons’ experience. To date, the association has committed over $20 million to responsible gambling initiatives.

Currently, ROGA is seeking proposals from qualified service providers experienced in managing such programs. Interested participants must be prepared to sign a non-disclosure agreement (NDA) by January 28, 2025.

Officials Discuss the Initiative

ROGA Executive Director Dr. Jennifer Shatley highlighted that this new initiative is a crucial step in the association’s mission to provide valuable resources for promoting responsible gaming. She expressed excitement for the release of the RFP, showcasing the organization’s dedication to offering a comprehensive program to operators in the growing gambling industry.

Dr. Shatley explained that the program will evaluate policies, responsible gaming support, exclusion protocols, marketing and advertising guidelines, and employee training. She also emphasized ROGA’s focus on data-driven strategies to enhance the consumer experience, ensuring safe and entertaining gaming for all.

She concluded: “The Association aims to educate, equip, and empower consumers so they can enjoy the fun of online gaming in a responsible way.”
