Second Overall Pick in 2024 Draft Joins Expansion Team Ahead of Inaugural Season

SEATTLE, WA – PWHL Seattle has officially signed Danielle Serdachny to a two-year contract, securing the talented forward through the 2026-27 season. Serdachny, who spent her rookie campaign with the Ottawa Charge, becomes the second player to join Seattle’s roster ahead of its 2025-26 debut season.

Seattle Adds a Dynamic Playmaker

Seattle General Manager Meghan Turner highlighted Serdachny’s skill set, stating:

“Danielle is a tremendous addition to our group. She’s strong, plays through contact, and she’s only beginning to tap into her full potential. Her ability to possess the puck and make plays under pressure will be a big asset for us as we build the identity of PWHL Seattle.”

Serdachny’s Rising Career

Serdachny was selected second overall by Ottawa in the 2024 PWHL Draft and quickly made her presence known in the league. Her rookie season highlights include:

  • Scoring in her PWHL debut on Nov. 30, 2024.
  • Recording two goals and six assists, tying for Ottawa’s team lead in rookie scoring.
  • Winning gold with Team Canada at the 2024 Women’s World Championship, where she scored the game-winning overtime goal in the final.
  • Claiming silver medals at the 2023 and 2025 World Championships.
  • Finishing her NCAA career with 239 points (82G, 157A) in 180 games at Colgate University.
  • Being a top-three finalist for the 2023 Patty Kazmaier Memorial Award.

Excited for a New Chapter in Seattle

Serdachny expressed her enthusiasm for joining Seattle, stating:

“I’m absolutely thrilled and honored to join PWHL Seattle. I am eager to contribute to building a remarkable legacy for this incredible city. I’m excited for what’s ahead and grateful for the opportunity to be one of the team’s first signees!”

Seattle’s Expansion Roster Taking Shape

Serdachny joins a lineup that already features Hilary Knight, the 2025 PWHL Points Leader Award co-winner, 2025 Forward of the Year finalist, and Billie Jean King MVP finalist, who signed with Seattle on June 4.

Expansion teams can sign up to five players during their Exclusive Signing Window, which closes on Sunday, June 8 at 5 p.m. ET.
