PWHL Seattle Signs Corinne Schroeder to Two-Year Contract

League’s All-Time Shutout Leader Joins Expansion Roster

SEATTLE – PWHL Seattle has officially signed goaltender Corinne Schroeder to a two-year contract, securing her place in the team’s inaugural roster through the 2026-27 season. Schroeder, who spent the past two seasons with the New York Sirens, becomes the fifth and final signing in Seattle’s Exclusive Signing Window for expansion teams.

A Proven Defensive Anchor

Seattle General Manager Meghan Turner emphasized Schroeder’s impact, stating:

“Signing Corinne is a huge step for our team. With four shutouts this season—more than anyone in the league—she’s proven she can take over a game and deliver when it matters most. She brings poise, confidence, and the kind of elite goaltending every team needs to win. We can’t wait to see her between the pipes for us.”

Schroeder’s Impressive Resume

Schroeder, selected 33rd overall by New York in the inaugural PWHL Draft, has played 35 games across two seasons. A native of Elm Creek, Manitoba, the 25-year-old netminder made history by earning the league’s first-ever shutout on January 1, 2024, against Toronto in the PWHL’s debut game.

Her standout performances include:

  • A .930 save percentage in the 2023-24 season.
  • A finalist nomination for 2024 PWHL Goaltender of the Year.
  • A league-record five career regular-season shutouts, leading all goaltenders in 2024-25 with four shutouts, including two separate back-to-back shutout performances.
  • Ranking third all-time in PWHL saves with 1,005 stops.

Before her PWHL career, Schroeder played for the Boston Pride in the PHF, earning Goaltender of the Year honors. She also had a stellar collegiate career at Boston University and Quinnipiac University, graduating in 2022 as team MVP and a finalist for NCAA Women’s Goalie of the Year.

Excited for a New Chapter in Seattle

Schroeder expressed enthusiasm for her next move, stating:

“I am incredibly honored and excited to be joining PWHL Seattle next season. The city has such a remarkable sports culture, and I’m eager to contribute to and build upon it with our team. I’m truly grateful to the New York Sirens organization for the past two seasons and appreciate their belief in me. I can’t wait to meet the passionate fans and become part of the Seattle hockey community. I’m ready for puck drop out West!”

Seattle’s Expansion Roster Taking Shape

Schroeder joins an elite group of early Seattle signings, including:

  • Hilary Knight (forward)
  • Danielle Serdachny (forward)
  • Alex Carpenter (forward, former Sirens teammate)
  • Cayla Barnes (defender)

Seattle has now reached the league-mandated maximum of five signings during the Exclusive Signing Window for expansion teams.
