Priced at +300 each, Sierra Leone and Fierceness are the top two favorites to win the 2024 Kentucky Derby. Trained by Chad Brown, Sierra Leone is sitting at the top of NTRA’s Top 3-Year-Old Poll.

Gun Runner’s son won the Keeneland Grade 1 Blue Grass Stakes event a few weeks ago, which was his only fourth start. Before that, Sierra Leone’s best performance was at G2 Risen Star in February.

When it comes to Fierceness, this horse is also priced at +300. What makes Fierceness an attractive betting option is the fact that he’s one of only two 2024 Kentucky Derby runners with a Beyer Speed Figure rating of over 100+.

The other horse that belongs to this category is Mystik Dan, which comes with the Kentucky Derby odds of +2000.

Mystik Dan is sharing the 6th spot on the list of the 2024 Kentucky Derby favorites with another four horses that are priced at +2000 at BetOnline Sportsbook. The reason we’re not sure bookies are right in thinking of Mystik Dan as an underdog is that this colt has a +100 Beyer Speed Figure.

Plus, Mystik Dan has already won four races, not to mention that he’s got a fantastic pedigree, coming from a long line of Grade 1 performers, including Laragh and Suiphonic.

We reckon that the reason why his odds are so long is that he finished third in the G1 Arkansas Derby in early April, which was the race he was expected to win.

Did you know that 11 of the last 14 Kentucky Derby winners had a Beyer Speed Figure rating of 100+ or higher?
