The Pittsburgh Pirates today announced the signing of first baseman/outfielder Ryan O’Hearn to a two-year contract.

The 32-year-old O’Hearn recorded career highs in hits (133), games (144), home runs (17), RBI (63), runs scored (67), on-base percentage (.366) and total bases (207) between Baltimore and San Diego in 2025.

O’Hearn also accumulated a total of six Outs Above Average while playing in 75 games at first base last season, which were tied for the fourth-most among all players at that position, according to Baseball Savant, behind Ty France (10), Matt Olson (nine) and Carlos Santana (eight). He also recorded a 1.000 fielding percentage while making a total of 23 appearances (18 starts) in the outfield.

O’Hearn has recorded a .252 career average (560-for-2223) with 104 doubles, 10 triples, 84 home runs, 313 RBI and 274 runs scored over 740 games in the big leagues with Kansas City (2018-22), Baltimore (2023-25) and San Diego (2025).

The left-handed hitting O’Hearn was originally selected by Kansas City in the eighth round of the 2014 First- Year Player Draft. He made his big-league debut in 2018 with Kansas City, where his .597 slugging percentage from July 31 through the end of the season ranked sixth among American League players with at least 150 plate appearances.

Since the beginning of the 2019 season, his 32 hits as a pinch hitter are the fourth-most in all of Major League Baseball, trailing only Austin Slater (42), Wilmer Flores (35) and Donovan Solano (35).

O’Hearn will wear uniform No. 29.

The Pirates will announce a corresponding move to the 40-man roster later today.
