Pittsburgh Pirates pitcher Dennis Santana has received a four-game suspension and an undisclosed fine for his aggressive conduct toward a fan near the bullpen during the second game of Thursday’s doubleheader at Detroit’s Comerica Park, Major League Baseball announced today. Michael Hill, MLB’s Senior Vice President for On-Field Operations, made the announcement.

The suspension of Santana had been scheduled to begin tonight, when the Pirates are set to host the Texas Rangers at PNC Park. However, Santana has elected to appeal. Thus, the discipline will be held in abeyance until that process is complete.
