Pittsburgh Pirates complete four roster related transactions

The Pittsburgh Pirates today placed outfielder Michael A. Taylor on the MLB paternity list.

Infielder/outfielder Ji Hwan Bae has been placed on the 10-day injured list (retro to June 3) with a right wrist sprain.

Catcher Grant Koch has been designated for assignment.

Left-handed pitcher Jose Hernandez has been optioned to Triple-A Indianapolis.

The Pirates have selected the contract of right-handed pitcher Ben Heller from Indianapolis.

Outfielder Jack Suwinski, infielder Liover Peguero and catcher Henry Davis have been recalled from Triple-A.

Suwinski went 7-for-28 (.250) with a triple, home run and two RBI in seven games with Indianapolis after being optioned on May 23.

Peguero was hitting .272 (52-for-191) with 12 doubles, two triples, two home runs and 34 RBI in 51 games with Indianapolis prior to his promotion to the Pirates today.

Davis was tied for the third-most home runs (seven) in all of Minor League Baseball since May 16 at the time he was promoted back to the Pirates. Coming into today, Davis ranked tied for eighth in RBI (15), seventh in the International League in OBP (.446), third in slugging (.790) and OPS (1.236), tied for fifth in hits (21), second in doubles (seven) and extra base hits (14), tied for second in total bases (49) and tied for first in runs (18) since May 16.

On Monday, the Pirates also ended the rehabilitation assignment of catcher Jason Delay, reinstated him from the 60-day injured list, and optioned him to Triple-A. In addition, left-handed pitcher Marco Gonzales was transferred from the 15- to 60-day injured list.
