The Pittsburgh Pirates today announced the following three players will attend Major League camp as on-roster invitees.
Wily Peralta (RHP) – Has gone 56-61 with 16 saves and a 4.29 ERA (911.1ip/434er) in 258 games (139 starts) in his big league career with Milwaukee (2012-17), Kansas City (2018-19) and Detroit (2021-22)…Spent all of last season with Rochester (Nationals’ Triple-A) where he went 3-8 with a 6.31 ERA in 24 starts…Ranked sixth among all Nationals farmhands in strikeouts (100) in 2023…Recorded a 2.93 ERA (132.0ip/43er) in 47 appearances (19 starts) from 2021-22 with Detroit…Has gone 50-55 with a 4.14 ERA (780.2ip/359er) in 139 starts and 6-6 with a 5.17 ERA (130.2ip/75er) in 119 relief appearances in his big league career.
Connor Sadzeck (RHP) – Spent the entire 2023 season with Saint Paul (Twins’ Triple-A) after signing with Minnesota as a minor league free agent on February 7…Made his last appearance in a big league game on July 23, 2022, against Colorado while pitching for Milwaukee…Has gone 0-1 with one save and a 2.75 ERA (36.0ip/11er) in 35 appearances (two starts) in his big league career with Texas (2018), Seattle (2019) and Milwaukee (2022)…Was originally drafted by the Pirates in the 45th round of the 2010 First-Year Player Draft, but did not sign.
Brent Honeywell (RHP) – Went a combined 2-4 with a 4.82 ERA (52.1ip/28er) in 40 appearances in 2023 between San Diego and Chicago (AL)…Posted a 3.51 ERA (41.0ip/16er) in 32 appearances prior to the All-Star break last season…Made his big league debut on April 11, 2021, vs. the New York Yankees after missing the previous three seasons due to injury, including “Tommy John” surgery on February 27, 2018…Was originally selected by Tampa Bay with the 72nd overall pick in the Competitive Balance B round of the 2014 First-Year Player Draft…His dad, Brent Sr., pitched in Pittsburgh’s minor league system from 1988-90.
