Philadelphia Phillies Acquire RHP Daniel Robert from Texas Rangers, Send RHP Enrique Segura in Exchange

Philadelphia, PA – The Philadelphia Phillies have acquired right-handed pitcher Daniel Robert from the Texas Rangers in exchange for right-handed pitcher Enrique Segura, the team announced today. Robert has been optioned to Triple-A Lehigh Valley.

Phillies President of Baseball Operations Dave Dombrowski confirmed the transaction ahead of the club’s upcoming series.

Daniel Robert’s Profile

Robert, 30, has had a strong start to the 2025 season, posting a 1.54 ERA (2 ER, 11.2 IP) with two saves and 17 strikeouts across 10 appearances for Triple-A Round Rock before being designated for assignment on April 28.

Originally signed by Texas as a non-drafted free agent on May 10, 2018, Robert has compiled a career minor league record of 11-10 with 17 saves, a 3.40 ERA (74 ER, 195.2 IP), and 260 strikeouts to 80 walks in 146 games (2 starts). Since 2021, he has averaged 11.86 strikeouts per nine innings (210 SO in 159.1 IP) while maintaining a 31.1% strikeout rate (675 batters faced).

A native of Hoover, Alabama, Robert made his major league debut in 2024, going 1-0 with a 3.18 ERA (2 ER, 5.2 IP) in four appearances with Texas.

Enrique Segura’s Profile

Segura, 20, was originally signed by Philadelphia as an amateur free agent on January 15, 2022. The young right-hander went 1-2 with a 3.18 ERA (6 ER, 17.0 IP) and 19 strikeouts over four games (three starts) for Single-A Clearwater this season.

Across his minor league career, Segura has appeared in 44 games (36 starts) across two levels and three teams in the Phillies system.

This move adds experienced bullpen depth to the Phillies’ Triple-A roster, while Segura joins the Rangers’ farm system as a promising young pitching prospect.
