Pennsylvania has officially joined the Multi-State Internet Gaming Agreement (MSIGA), becoming the sixth member of the interstate poker network. Governor Josh Shapiro signed the agreement today, bringing more freedom and expanded opportunities to Pennsylvania’s estimated 150,000 online poker players. With this move, Pennsylvania becomes the largest state in the shared online poker market, now spanning over 38 million players across multiple states.
Strengthening the Multi-State Poker Network
Pennsylvania joins New Jersey, Nevada, Delaware, West Virginia, and Michigan, further unifying the U.S. online poker landscape. This collaboration enables the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB) to work alongside gaming operators and regulatory agencies from other MSIGA states to ensure a fair, secure, and competitive poker experience.
By entering this agreement, players across Pennsylvania can look forward to:
✔ Larger prize pools without an increase in buy-in amounts
✔ Expanded competition among multi-state participants
✔ Enhanced security through a rigorously tested platform
Governor Shapiro’s Vision for Pennsylvania’s Poker Expansion
“This is a commonsense decision that supports hundreds of thousands of Pennsylvanians, strengthens our economy, and boosts revenue that benefits our schools, seniors, and small businesses,” said Governor Shapiro.
“With three neighboring states already participating in this agreement, Pennsylvania is ensuring its competitive edge in the rapidly growing online market.”
Increased Competition & Industry Growth
The demand for Pennsylvania’s inclusion in the multi-state network has been strong, with poker players advocating for expanded access to larger prize pools, improved competition, and a more regulated, safer playing environment.
Pennsylvania poker players will officially gain access to multi-state games starting 28 April 2025, with BetMGM and PA Borgata Online among the first platforms available. Additional operators are expected to join soon.
