This is the first three meetings this season between the Flames and Wild. The Flames went 2-1-0 against Minnesota last season. This is a Pacific Division versus Central Division matchup; the Flames have a record of 4-4-0 against Central Division teams and a record of 8-6-0 against Western Conference opponents. LAST SEASON VERSUS MINNESOTA:
The Flames and Wild met three times last season with Calgary winning the season-series going 2-1-0. Their first meeting came on December 7th , 2022 at the ‘Dome which saw Calgary erase an early 2-0 deficit led by a three-point night from Rasmus Andersson, and 25 saves from Dan Vladar in a 5-3 victory. Meeting number two was also in Calgary on March 4 th , but the Wild blanked the Flames 3-0. They would meet again just under a week later in Minnesota where Jacob Markstrom stopped 38 shots in regulation plus two more in overtime for 40 saves to help The Flames prevail 1-0 in a shootout. This will be the clubs’ only meeting at the Saddledome this season, with their other two matchups coming at the Xcel Energy Center on Dec. 12 and Jan. 2.
DOME SWEET DOME:
The Flames have just passed the halfway point of a six-game home stand and look to continue their strong play at the ‘Dome. The Flames have recorded points in five of their last six games on home ice dating back to Nov. 7 and following tonight the home side will welcome Carolina on Thursday and finish off on December 9th against New Jersey. This will be one of two six-game homestands for the Flames this season, as they will play six-straight on home ice from January 16th to 27th prior to the NHL All-Star break.
