* Cale Makar recorded a three-point outing as the Avalanche scored seven goals – tied for their highest total this season – on the way to their fourth straight win, outscoring opponents 24-8 over that span.
* Kyle Burroughs (Vancouver, B.C.) scored his first career NHL goal in his hometown to help the Canucks earn their first win against the Jets at home since Dec. 20, 2016.
* Scotiabank Arena will be one of seven venues lit in lavender Saturday as the streaking Maple Leafs host Sidney Crosby and the Penguins on Hockey Night in Canada, while UBS Arena officially opens its doors when the Islanders contest their home opener after a lengthy road trip to start the season.
COLORADO SCORES SEVEN IN SEATTLE, WIN FOURTH STRAIGHT
Cale Makar led all skaters with 2-1—3 Friday as Colorado scored seven goals in its first visit to Seattle. The Avalanche won their fourth consecutive game and have outscored their opponents 24-8 over that span.
* Makar (5-8—13), who trails only Predators captain Roman Josi (6-10—16) for the most goals by a defenseman this season, recorded the third multi-goal game of his career. Only two blueliners in Avalanche/Nordiques history have more: Sandis Ozolinsh (8) and Tyson Barrie (6).
BURROUGHS SCORES FIRST NHL GOAL
Kyle Burroughs (1-0—1), a Vancouver native, scored his first career NHL goal and Thatcher Demko (37 saves) made a timely stop in the final seconds of regulation to help the Canucks snap a five-game slide and earn their first win against the Jets at Rogers Arena since Dec. 20, 2016. Winnipeg had previously won its last eight contests versus Vancouver as visitors (WPG: 8-0-0, VAN: 0-7-1).
* Burroughs (Vancouver, B.C.), who signed with his hometown team as a free agent on July 28, grew up a Canucks fan and would pretend to be the West Coast Express line of Markus Naslund, Brendan Morrison and Todd Bertuzzi as he played mini sticks in his basement as a child. In minor hockey, he would don the No. 7 after Morrison.
