NEWARK, NJ – The Boston Fleet overtook the New York Sirens 2-0 on Wednesday night at Prudential Center to record their fifth-straight win, the most consecutive victories in team history. Aerin Frankel posted her third shutout of the season in her fifth start, turning away a season-high 33 shots. Ella Huber scored her first professional goal and the game-winner, 5:27 into the first period on the power play, assisted by fellow rookie Haley Winn. Liz Schepers doubled the Fleet’s lead 9:46 into the second period with her first goal since scoring Minnesota’s overtime winner to take home the 2025 Walter Cup. Kayle Osborne stopped 19 of 21 shots faced in the Sirens crease. This was the first of four meetings between the two nearby U.S. teams this season, with their next matchup coming in Boston on Jan. 28 at the Tsongas Center. The Fleet depart on a four-game road trip while the Sirens host one more matchup at home before flying south to Dallas for their first PWHL Takeover Tour™ game of the season.

I thought we had a good amount of offensive zone time where we had them on the ropes and tired. However, I think maybe we let them off the hook a little bit a few times where [our offense] was able to give her one that she can easily see and control the game while their shift was extended, and they were tired. In some other areas, we missed opportunities but there were a lot of great things. We had some great chances, and I thought Aerin played a great game once again.”
New York forward Sarah Fillier on the change in linemates for the first time this season: “I thought we got some quality looks together. I think the change of the setup brings a bit more variety in how we can attack and how we saw that today. Like Fargs [Fargo] said, we’re right there and we’re getting good chances and pucks around the crease – we just have to bury one here.”

Boston extended its record setting run with a fifth-straight win to start the season, the most in PWHL history. The Fleet have won eight straight games against the Sirens (six in regulation, two in shootouts, dating back to Apr. 20, 2024) for the PWHL’s longest win streak by one team against another. This is also just the second time a PWHL team has won five straight games in regulation (Toronto in 2024).
New York has outshot their opponent in all six games this season but have now gone eight straight periods without scoring a goal and have been shut out three times. They are the first team to lose consecutive games by shutout in PWHL history.
Aerin Frankel‘s three shutouts on the season are more than the number of goals she’s given up (2) and surpasses the two regular-season shutouts she had entering 2025-26. She’s started all five Fleet games this season to tie the longest winning streak of her career (Jan. 5 to Feb. 12, 2025).
Ella Huber‘s first period goal was the first point of her PWHL career, coming just a few hours before the rookie’s 23rd birthday tomorrow. Boston’s second-round pick out of the University of Minnesota finished her senior season ranked second for the Gophers and 12th in the NCAA in points (48).
Liz Schepers‘ first goal of the season came in her fourth game as a member of the Fleet. Her first goal of the 2024-25 season did not come until her 18th game (Feb. 28, 2025 at Montréal), while the clutch forward did not score in 2024 until her first Walter Cup Championship-winning goal. Schepers signed a two-year contract with the Fleet this offseason after spending the first two PWHL seasons with Minnesota.
Haley Winn‘s primary assist on Huber’s goal was her third of the season and the first-time the rookie has recorded points in consecutive games (2A on Dec. 7 vs. Minnesota). At the end of the game, the Fleet’s second overall pick led all rookie defenders in assists and tied for the lead in points among all rookie skaters.
Jamie Lee Rattray‘s primary helper on Schepers’ second period goal was her fourth of the season, and her second time recording assists in consecutive games after she tallied an assist in each of the first two games this season (Nov. 11 & 29). Last season for the Fleet, it took the alternate captain 15 games to reach four assists.
Megan Keller recorded her third assist and fifth point of the season, bringing the Fleet captain to the top of the PWHL scoring leaderboard among all skaters and one of just two defenders to have five points this season. Keller’s three assists to date are almost halfway to her 2024-25 season total of eight in 30 games.
The defensive pair of Winn (26:51) and Keller (25:56) combined for more than 50 minutes of ice time – each five plus minutes more than any other player – to shut down the Sirens’ offense. NEW YORK – Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence, Baltimore Ravens safety Alohi Gilman and Los Angeles Chargers kicker Cameron Dicker are the AFC Offensive, Defensive and Special Teams Players of the Week for games played in Week 15 (December 11, 14-15).
OFFENSE: QB TREVOR LAWRENCE, JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS
Lawrence passed for 330 yards and totaled six touchdowns (five passing, one rushing) and no interceptions with a 136.7 passer rating and added 51 rushing yards in Jacksonville’s 48-20 victory over the New York Jets. He is the first player in NFL history with at least 300 passing yards, 50 rushing yards, five touchdown passes and a rushing touchdown in a single game.
This is the fourth career Player of the Week award for Lawrence and his first this season. Lawrence has the third-most Player of the Week awards by a Jaguars player, trailing only Josh Scobee (eight-time winner) and Bryan Barker (five).

Gilman recorded eight tackles, a pass defended and scored an 84-yard defensive touchdown in Baltimore’s 24-0 win at Cincinnati. He was the only defensive player to score a touchdown in Week 15.
This is Gilman’s first-career Defensive Player of the Week award, joining Roquan Smith (Week 2) as the only two Ravens players to win the honor this season. Gilman is the third Ravens safety to earn the honor in the past 10 seasons (2016-25), joining Kyle Hamilton (Week 16, 2023) and Eric Weddle (Week 13, 2017).
Gilman is the sixth former Notre Dame safety to win Defensive Player of the Week, joining Harrison Smith (two-time winner), Kyle Hamilton, Julian Love, Pat Terrell and Shawn Wooden.
SPECIAL TEAMS: K CAMERON DICKER, LOS ANGELES CHARGERS
Dicker converted all three of his field goal attempts – two from 49 yards and one from 23 – as well as his one point-after attempt in the Chargers’ 16-13 win over the Chiefs. He was the only kicker in the AFC from a winning team to make all of his field goal attempts and convert on two from 40-or-more yards in Week 15.
This is Dicker’s sixth-career Player of the Week award and fifth as a Charger. Dicker joins John Carney (eight-time winner) as the only Chargers kickers with five-or-more Player of the Week awards.

With a win on Sunday at Detroit (4:25 p.m. ET, CBS), Tomlin can become the 11th head coach all-time with 200 career wins, including the postseason, and become the third-youngest head coach to reach 200 career wins, including the playoffs, in NFL history. OFFENSE: TE KYLE PITTS, ATLANTA FALCONS
Pitts had a career high 11 catches for 166 yards and three touchdowns in Atlanta’s 29-28 win at Tampa Bay. Pitts became the fourth tight end all-time to record at least 10 receptions, 150 receiving yards and three touchdown receptions in a game, joining Pro Football Hall of Famers Shannon Sharpe (Oct. 6, 1996 with Denver) and Kellen Winslow (Dec. 11, 1983 with the San Diego Chargers), as well as Todd Christensen (Oct. 16, 1983 with the Los Angeles Raiders). Pitts tied for the most receiving touchdowns, ranked second in receiving yards and third in receptions in Week 15.
This is Pitts’ first-career Player of the Week award and he is the second Falcons tight end to earn Offensive Player of the Week honors, joining Alge Crumpler (Week 12, 2004 and Week 7, 2006).
Pitts is the first former Florida tight end to earn Offensive Player of the Week honors and the first by a Florida player since Rex Grossman (Week 15, 2006).
DEFENSE: LB D’MARCO JACKSON, CHICAGO BEARS
Jackson recorded seven tackles, two passes defensed, a sack and an interception in Chicago’s 31-3 win against Cleveland. He is the only NFC player to record at least seven tackles, two passes defensed, one sack and an interception in a single game this season.
This is Jacksons’ first-career Defensive Player of the Week award and he becomes the fourth Bears player to earn Player of the Week honors this season, joining Caleb Williams (Week 3), Josh Blackwell (Week 4) and Colston Loveland (Week 9). Jackson is the first Bears linebacker to win Defensive Player of the Week since Danny Trevathan (Week 2, 2018).
Jackson is the fourth former Appalachian State player to win Player of the Week honors and is the second to win Defensive Player of the Week, joining Dexter Coakley (Week 12, 1999).
SPECIAL TEAMS: K, JASON MYERS, SEATTLE SEAHAWKS
Myers converted all six of his field goal attempts – 47, 52, 46, 32, 30 and game-winning 56 yards – in Seattle’ 18-16 win against Indianapolis. His six made field goals tied for the most by a kicker (Evan McPherson, Week 13) in a single game this season and his 18 points rank as the second most.
This is Myers’ third Special Teams Player of the Week award and second with the Seahawks. He became the fourth Seahawks player to earn Player of the Week honors this season, joining DeMarcus Lawrence (Week 10), Ernest Jonest (Week 13) and Rashid Shaheed (Week 14). Myers has the second-most Special Teams Player of the Week awards by a Seahawks kicker, trailing only Josh Brown (three-time winner).
The Kansas City Royals have signed outfielder Lane Thomas to a one‑year contract, the club announced today. With the move, Kansas City’s Major League Reserve List now stands at 40 players.
Thomas, 30, brings seven years of big‑league experience across three organizations: St. Louis (2019–21), Washington (2021–24), and Cleveland (2024–25). Over 600 career games, he has produced a .242/.309/.418 slash line (489-for-2023) with 194 extra‑base hits and 254 RBI. Defensively, he has made 276 career starts in right field, 170 in center, and 50 in left.
A standout performer against left‑handed pitching, Thomas owns a career .292 average (179-for-612) with a .500 slugging percentage and .859 OPS versus southpaws.
Injuries limited Thomas to 39 games in 2025, including three stints on the Injured List due to a right wrist bone bruise and right foot plantar fasciitis. With Cleveland, he made 32 starts in center field and one in right.
Thomas was a key contributor during the Guardians’ 2024 postseason run, starting all 10 playoff games in center field. He delivered one of the defining moments of Cleveland’s ALDS victory over Detroit, driving in five runs in the decisive Game 5 — including a tie‑breaking grand slam off two‑time reigning AL Cy Young winner Tarik Skubal.
In 2023, Thomas was a Rawlings Gold Glove Award finalist as a National League outfielder after posting a .985 fielding percentage across 151 games and 1,292.2 innings in right field. That same season, he logged the sixth 20/20 campaign in Nationals history, finishing with 28 home runs and 20 stolen bases.
Since the start of 2023, Thomas ranks tied for third in MLB with 28 outfield assists, trailing only Steven Kwan (32) and Nolan Jones (31).
