WINNIPEG, MB., – The Winnipeg Blue Bombers today announce the club has agreed to terms on a one-year contract with Canadian receiver Gavin Cobb.

Cobb (5-9, 170; University of Manitoba; born: January 28, 1998, in Victoria, B.C.) returns to the Blue Bombers in 2026 for his second season with the club and fourth in the Canadian Football League after spending the first two years of his career (2023-24) with the Edmonton Elks.

Cobb appeared in four regular season games with the Blue Bombers in 2025, plus the Eastern Semi-Final, including two starts. He added two catches for 29 yards in the playoff loss to the Montreal Alouettes.

Seattle Reign FC Signs U-18 Goalkeeper Evan O’Steen

17-year-old becomes youngest goalkeeper signing in club history; 2025 National Champion out of Florida State University brings U-17 U.S. Women’s National Team experience to Seattle

RENTON, WASH. – Seattle Reign FC announced today the signing of goalkeeper Evan O’Steen through the 2026 NWSL season, making the 17‑year‑old the youngest goalkeeper signing in club history. O’Steen joins the Reign after training with the team early in the 2025 season and spending time with Dallas Trinity FC of the Gainbridge Super League.

We’re thrilled to welcome Evan O’Steen to Seattle,” said General Manager Lesle Gallimore. “Evan is an exceptional young talent who has already shown poise and quality well beyond her age. At Reign FC, we take great pride in developing players and helping them reach their potential, and we’re excited to support Evan as she continues to grow as both a goalkeeper and a professional.”

Widely regarded as one of the top young goalkeepers in the country, O’Steen arrives with experience at both the collegiate and international levels. She was part of Florida State University’s 2025 National Championship team, gaining early exposure to elite competitive environments while making four appearances, including two starts, as a freshman.

Internationally, O’Steen has represented the U.S. U‑17 Women’s National Team, most recently competing in the 2025 FIFA U‑17 Women’s World Cup, where she recorded a shutout in the opening match against Ecuador. She also excelled at the 2024 U‑17 World Cup, earning Golden Glove honors after posting four shutouts, and was one of 42 players selected for U.S. Soccer’s inaugural Women’s College Talent ID Camp last June.

I’m honored to sign with Seattle Reign FC,” O’Steen said. “Training with the club gave me a clear understanding of the standards and culture here, and I’m excited to continue learning and growing in such an incredible environment.”

A native of Grapevine, Texas, O’Steen developed with Solar SC, one of the nation’s premier youth programs, before advancing through the U.S. Soccer pathway.

O’Steen joins a Reign goalkeeping group featuring veterans Claudia Dickey and Cassie Miller, along with Seattle homegrown Neeku Purcell, as the club continues to invest in both proven experience and emerging talent.

NFL Game Preview: Houston Texans (5) vs. New England Patriots (2)

0

The Houston Texans (12-5, No. 5 seed in AFC) face the New England Patriots (14-3, No. 2 seed in AFC) in an AFC Divisional Round playoff matchup. This is the third postseason encounter between the teams, with New England holding a 2-0 playoff record, including a 34-10 win in the 2016 Divisional Round and a 41-28 victory in the 2012 Divisional Round. Houston advanced with a convincing 30-6 Wild Card shutout of the Pittsburgh Steelers on Jan. 12, forcing three turnovers and limiting Pittsburgh to 175 total yards. New England earned a bye after clinching the No. 2 seed with a 16-3 Wild Card win over the Los Angeles Chargers on Jan. 11, relying on their defense (three INTs) and run game (142 rushing yards). The Texans are on a 10-game win streak, but New England’s home dominance (6-3 at Gillette) and historical playoff edge make them favorites. Houston’s elite defense (No. 3 in yards allowed, 299.8 YPG) vs. New England’s balanced attack could define this low-scoring battle, with cold weather favoring ground games.

Venue Location

Gillette Stadium, Foxborough, MA (Capacity: 64,628). The open-air venue often features harsh weather, amplifying home-field advantage with crowd noise and elements.

Kickoff is scheduled for 3:00 PM ET (Broadcast: ESPN/ABC).

Broadcast: ESPN/ABC: Joe Buck, Troy Aikman, Lisa Salters / Laura Rutledge (field reporter)

Westwood One: John Sadak, Jason McCourty

Weather Updates

Chance of precipitation 20-30% (0.2 inches of snow possible), humidity 64%. The cold and potential flurries could impact passing accuracy and favor run-heavy offenses, with wind affecting field goals over 40 yards. Altitude is not a factor, but the elements could exacerbate fatigue for the Texans.

The Los Angeles Rams (12-5, 2nd in NFC West) travel to face the Chicago Bears (11-6, 1st in NFC North) in an NFC Divisional Round playoff matchup. This is the first postseason meeting between the teams since 1985, when the Bears won 24-0 on their way to Super Bowl XX. The Rams advanced with a 34-31 Wild Card win over the Carolina Panthers on Jan. 10, showcasing a high-powered offense led by Matthew Stafford’s 304 passing yards and three TDs. Buffalo’s road resilience (6-3 away) adds intrigue, but Denver’s home dominance (8-1) and Sean Payton’s 4-0 record in Divisional Rounds after byes make them favorites in what could be a low-scoring grind.

Venue Location

Empower Field at Mile High, Denver, CO (Capacity: 76,125). The high-altitude venue (5,280 feet elevation) often affects visiting teams’ conditioning, giving Denver a notable home-field edge.

Kickoff is scheduled for 4:30 PM ET (Broadcast: CBS).

Broadcast: CBS: Jim Nantz, Tony Romo, Tracy Wolfson (field reporter)

Westwood One: Ryan Radtke, Mike Golic

Weather Updates

Clear skies with temperatures around 43°F at kickoff, dropping to mid-30s by game’s end. Winds light at 4-6 mph from the SSE, with 0% chance of precipitation and humidity at 55-65%. No significant impact on passing or kicking games, but the altitude could exacerbate fatigue for both teams, particularly the Bills coming from sea level.

Injury Report

Both teams enter with notable absences, but Buffalo’s wide receiver room is decimated, potentially forcing a run-heavy approach. Denver’s secondary is relatively healthy, giving them an edge in pass defense.

Buffalo Bills:

WR Gabe Davis (knee): Out for season (torn ACL; suffered in Wild Card win).

WR Tyrell Shavers (knee): Out for season (torn ACL; suffered in Wild Card win).

S Jordan Poyer (hamstring): Out; missed Wild Card game, no return timeline.

QB Josh Allen (foot): Probable; played through in Wild Card, full practice.

WR Curtis Samuel (elbow): Questionable; on IR but practice window opened, potential activation.

TE Dalton Kincaid (ankle/foot): Questionable; limited practice.

LB Terrel Bernard (calf): Questionable; limited practice.

RB Ty Johnson (ankle): Questionable; limited practice.

Denver Broncos:

4 players on injury report (per ); specific details sparse, but no major stars listed as out. LB Shaq Thompson limited with neck issue; secondary relatively healthy.

Key

Player Matchups to Watch

QB Josh Allen (BUF) vs. Broncos Secondary: Allen (injured foot; ~3,800 passing YDS, 28 TDs this season) must improvise without Davis and Shavers. Denver’s No. 1 pass defense (178.5 YPG allowed) features strong coverage from Pat Surtain II and a pass rush led by Nik Bonitto (8.5 sacks).

RB James Cook (BUF) vs. LB Josey Jewell (DEN): Cook (~1,200 rushing YDS, 8 TDs) is Buffalo’s ground threat. Jewell (leading tackler with ~120 tackles) anchors Denver’s No. 1 run defense (91.65 YPG allowed).

WR Stefon Diggs (BUF) vs. CB Pat Surtain II (DEN): Diggs (~1,100 YDS, 8 TDs) becomes Buffalo’s primary target with injuries. Surtain (top coverage CB, 4 INTs) must shadow Diggs to limit big plays.

QB Bo Nix (DEN) vs. LB Matt Milano (BUF): Nix (rookie; 3,200 passing YDS, 22 TDs) has been efficient. Milano (100 tackles, 3 INTs) leads Buffalo’s defense, focusing on underneath coverage.

The Bills averaged 27.3 PPG in their last 10 while allowing 19.1, with a strong run game (145.2 rushing YPG). They’re on a 1-game win streak after the Wild Card upset, but injuries to receivers limit passing options.

NFL Game Preview: San Francisco 49ers (6) vs. Seattle Seahawks (1)

0

The San Francisco 49ers (13-5, 2nd in NFC West) travel to face the Seattle Seahawks (14-3, 1st in NFC West) in an NFC Divisional Round playoff matchup. This is the third meeting between the rivals this season, with the Seahawks winning the regular-season finale 13-3 on January 4, 2026. San Francisco advanced with a 28-24 upset over the Philadelphia Eagles in the Wild Card round, while Seattle, as the No. 1 seed, had a bye. The 49ers have dominated recent series history, winning 7 of the last 9, but injuries to key players like George Kittle and Fred Warner could hinder their chances. Seattle’s home-field advantage and defensive prowess make them favorites, but the Niners’ road warrior mentality (7-2 away) adds intrigue to this high-stakes rematch.

Venue Location

Lumen Field, Seattle, WA (Capacity: 68,740).

Kickoff is scheduled for 8:00 PM ET (5:00 PM PT).

Injury Report

Both teams are banged up, with San Francisco’s defense particularly vulnerable without Fred Warner

and George Kittle. Seattle’s injury list includes key defenders, which could affect their pass rush and run defense.

San Francisco 49ers:

TE AJ Barner (hip): Full participation; probable.

Key

Player Matchups to Watch

Without George Kittle, the 49ers will rely on their run game and quick passes, while Seattle’s defense focuses on containing Christian McCaffrey. Key battles include:

QB Brock Purdy (SF) vs. LB Ernest Jones IV (SEA): Purdy (240+ passing YPG, 25.6 PPG offense) must navigate Seattle’s pressure without Kittle. Jones (illness, questionable; 7.0 sacks, 9 TFL) anchors the LB corps and could disrupt short passes.

RB Christian McCaffrey (SF) vs. LB Tyrice Knight (SEA): McCaffrey (~71 rushing YPG, 351.4 team YPG offense) is the engine. Knight (shoulder; 62 tackles) must contain the run amid injuries.

WR Jauan Jennings (SF) vs. CB Riq Woolen (SEA): Jennings (yards after catch specialist) steps up sans Kittle. Woolen (ankle; strong coverage) must limit big plays.

QB (Geno Smith?) (SEA) vs. LB Dee Winters (SF): Smith (projected starter; efficient passer) faces a depleted 49ers D. Winters (ankle; limited) must pressure without Warner.

PWHL Game Preview: Vancouver Goldeneyes (3-1-1-7) vs. Toronto Sceptres (4-0-3-5)

The Vancouver Goldeneyes travel east to face the Toronto Sceptres in what promises to be a charged matchup, marking the first-ever meeting between these two teams. As an expansion franchise in the 2025-26 season, Vancouver has shown flashes of potential but struggled with consistency, while Toronto aims to leverage their home-ice advantage in a marquee event. This game, dubbed the “Battle on Bay Street” presented by Scotiabank, highlights an emerging rivalry fueled by Vancouver poaching key players from Toronto’s roster during the offseason. With both teams hovering in the lower half of the standings and the Olympic break looming, expect a gritty, low-scoring affair as players vie for momentum heading into international play.

Venue: Scotiabank Arena

Puckdrop is scheduled for 3:00 PM EST (12:00 PM PST)

Broadcast: In Canada on TSN/Sportsnet ONE; internationally on the PWHL YouTube channel and thepwhl.com. This venue, home to the NHL’s Toronto Maple Leafs, has hosted sold-out PWHL games in the past, drawing crowds over 19,000 and setting attendance records for the league.

Recent Team Forms

Both squads are coming off losses and looking to snap short skids before the Olympic hiatus. Vancouver has struggled offensively, averaging just 1.8 goals per game while allowing 2.7. Toronto mirrors the low output at 1.8 goals scored but has been slightly better defensively, conceding 2.5 per game.

Vancouver Goldeneyes: Last 5 games: 1-1-0-3 (4 points). They dropped a 1-0 shutout to the Montréal Victoire on January 11, highlighting their defensive solidity but offensive woes—goaltender Emerance Maschmeyer stopped 25 of 26 shots in a strong performance. Prior to that, they suffered a 4-2 loss but earned points in overtime scenarios earlier in the month. The team has gone 0-3-0-0 since star forward Sarah Nurse’s injury in November but gets a boost with her return. Streak: 0-0-0-2 (two regulation losses).

Toronto Sceptres: Last 5 games: 1-0-1-3 (4 points). They fell 2-1 to the Boston Fleet on January 14, managing only 22 shots in a penalty-filled game where forward Emma Maltais scored their lone goal late.

Before that, they split results with a win over New York but overtime losses to Ottawa and Minnesota. Toronto has been undisciplined, taking six penalties in their last outing, but their penalty kill ranks at 83.3%. Streak: 0-0-0-1 (one regulation loss).

Overall, the PWHL’s low-scoring nature (league average around 2.3 goals per game) has defined both teams’ forms, with defenses carrying the load amid offensive inconsistencies.

Series History

This is the inaugural head-to-head matchup between Vancouver and Toronto, as Vancouver joined the PWHL as an expansion team for the 2025-26 season.

No prior games mean no historical data, but tension is high due to offseason moves: Vancouver signed several key ex-Sceptres players, including defenders Claire Thompson and Sophie Jaques, effectively “dismantling” Toronto’s blue line.

This has created an instant rivalry, with Toronto eager to prove a point at home.

Injury Report

Injuries have been minimal heading into this game, but Vancouver gets a major reinforcement.

Vancouver Goldeneyes: Forward Sarah Nurse (arm) has been activated from long-term injured reserve (LTIR) and is expected to play. She suffered the injury in Vancouver’s season opener in November and hasn’t suited up since, missing 11 games.

No other reported injuries; the team is otherwise healthy, with Nurse’s return providing a timely boost ahead of the Olympics.

Toronto Sceptres: No reported injuries. The roster is at full strength, though forward Jesse Compher took multiple penalties in their last game, potentially indicating fatigue or rust.

Both teams have players named to Olympic rosters (e.g., five from Vancouver for Canada), so health management is key with the Milano Cortina Games approaching.

Key

Player Matchups

This game features intriguing battles, particularly with ex-Sceptres now in Vancouver jerseys. Expect low shot volumes (both teams average around 23-26 shots per game) and physical play.

Key Offensive Matchup: Sarah Nurse (VAN) vs. Toronto’s Defense: Nurse, returning from injury, faces her former team for the first time. The 31-year-old Canadian Olympian is a speedy forward with playmaking ability; she’ll test Toronto’s rebuilt blue line, which has struggled without Thompson and Jaques (now her teammates). Nurse could line up on Vancouver’s top line with Jenn Gardiner.

Defensive Battle: Claire Thompson & Sophie Jaques (VAN) vs. Emma Maltais & Daryl Watts (TOR): Thompson leads Vancouver with 7 points (3G, 4A), while Jaques tops the team in ice time and goals (3G).

They’ll aim to shut down Toronto’s forwards like Maltais (recent goal-scorer) and Watts (known for drawing penalties). Toronto’s power play is a weak 8.3%, so Vancouver’s 92.3% penalty kill could dominate if discipline falters.

Goaltending Duel: Emerance Maschmeyer (VAN) vs. Kristen Campbell (TOR): Maschmeyer has been Vancouver’s backbone, posting strong outings like her near-shutout vs. Montréal. Toronto’s Campbell will need to match her in a game likely decided by 1-2 goals.

X-Factor: Vancouver’s Abby Boreen has been physical but penalty-prone (multiple minors recently); Toronto could exploit that on special teams.

Betting Trends

Under is Dominant: Both teams average under 2 goals scored per game, and the PWHL as a whole trends low-scoring (81% of games under 4.5 goals this season). Vancouver games have gone under in 8 of 12; Toronto in 7 of 12.

Home Advantage for Toronto: The Sceptres are 3-0-1-1 at home, including wins in high-attendance games at Scotiabank Arena. They’ve covered the moneyline in 4 of 5 home tilts.

Vancouver Road Struggles: The Goldeneyes are 1-0-1-4 on the road, often losing by one goal but covering spreads as underdogs in 60% of away games.

Special Teams Edge: Vancouver’s penalty kill (92.3%) outperforms Toronto’s power play (8.3%), suggesting value in props for under on power-play goals.

First Meeting Uncertainty: Expansion teams like Vancouver have split results in debuts vs. established squads, but Toronto has won 2 of 3 against new entrants (Seattle, Vancouver in sims).

NBA Game Preview: New Orleans Pelicans (10-33) vs. Indiana Pacers (9-32)

0

The New Orleans Pelicans (10-33) face off against the Indiana Pacers (9-32) in a matchup of two struggling teams at the bottom of their respective conferences. This interconference game pits the 15th-place Pelicans in the West against the 15th-place Pacers in the East. With both squads dealing with significant injuries and poor form, expect a gritty, low-stakes battle where defense could shine—or falter—amid depleted rosters. The Pelicans won the first meeting of the season on December 20, 2025, by a score of 128-109, but much has changed since then with ongoing health issues on both sides.

Venue Location

Gainbridge Fieldhouse, Indianapolis, Indiana. This is the home arena for the Pacers, known for its intimate atmosphere and capacity of around 17,274 fans.

Tipoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. ET (4:00 p.m. PT / 6:00 p.m. CT). The game will be broadcast on FDSIN, Gulf Coast Sports, Pelicans+, and WTHR-13, with live streaming available on platforms like Fubo (regional restrictions apply).

Recent Team Forms

The Pelicans have been in freefall, going 1-9 in their last 10 games. Their lone win came against the Brooklyn Nets (116-113) on January 14, but they’ve otherwise been outscored and outrebounded consistently. Key losses include a 122-116 defeat to the Denver Nuggets on January 13 and blowouts against Miami (125-106) and Atlanta (117-100). Offensively, they’ve averaged around 106 points in recent outings but have shot poorly from the field (around 44-46%). Defensively, they’ve allowed opponents to shoot efficiently while turning the ball over frequently.

The Pacers have shown slight improvement lately, going 3-7 in their last 10 but winning three of their last five before a loss to Toronto (115-101) on January 14. Notable wins include a narrow 98-96 victory over Boston on January 12, a dominant 123-99 rout of Miami on January 10, and a 114-112 thriller at Charlotte on January 8. They’ve averaged higher scoring in wins (around 112-123 points) but dip to 101 or less in losses. Rebounding and assists have been strengths in victories, but turnovers remain an issue.

TeamLast 10 RecordAvg. PPG (Last 10)Avg. Opp. PPG (Last 10)Key Trend
Pelicans1-9~108~118Struggling with shooting efficiency and defensive stops; only 1 home win in stretch.
Pacers3-7~110~114Better at forcing turnovers in wins; home form remains weak (1-4 in last 5 home games).

Injury Report

Both teams are ravaged by injuries, which could lead to expanded roles for bench players and lower-scoring affairs.

Pelicans Key Injuries:

Dejounte Murray (PG): Out (right Achilles rupture) – Season-long absence; major blow to playmaking.

Herb Jones (F): Out (right ankle sprain) – Defensive anchor missing; impacts perimeter defense.

Jose Alvarado (PG): Out (left oblique strain) – Expected back around January 23; hurts bench energy and steals.

Others: Hunter Dickinson (C, G-League two-way) – Out; Saddiq Bey (F) – Doubtful (hip flexor strain, per older reports).

Pacers Key Injuries:

Tyrese Haliburton (PG): Out (right Achilles tendon tear) – Missing entire season; devastating loss for offense.

Bennedict Mathurin (G): Out (right thumb sprain) – Out until at least January 17; key scorer sidelined.

Obi Toppin (F): Out (right foot stress fracture) – Out until at least February; affects athleticism and spacing.

Isaiah Jackson (F/C): Out (concussion protocol) – Out until at least January 17; rebounding and rim protection hit.

Others: Taelon Peter (G-League) – Doubtful; Ethan Thompson (G-League) – Questionable.

With star guards out on both sides, expect slower paces and reliance on forwards like Zion Williamson for New Orleans and Pascal Siakam for Indiana.

Key

Player Matchups

This game features intriguing battles between remaining stars and role players stepping up:

Zion Williamson (Pelicans PF) vs. Pascal Siakam (Pacers PF): Williamson’s explosive drives (averaging ~25-27 PPG recently) will test Siakam’s versatility. Siakam (22-34 PPG in recent games) can counter with mid-range scoring and playmaking, but Williamson’s physicality could dominate inside.

Trey Murphy III (Pelicans SF) vs. Andrew Nembhard (Pacers PG): Murphy’s shooting (e.g., 34 points on 12-22 FG vs. Nets) faces Nembhard’s facilitation (29 points, 9 assists vs. Miami). Nembhard’s recent hot streak (double-doubles) could exploit Pelicans’ guard injuries.

Yves Missi (Pelicans C) vs. Myles Turner (Pacers C): Rookie Missi (rebounding focus) vs. Turner’s shot-blocking. Turner’s experience could limit second-chance points for New Orleans.

Bench Battle: Jordan Hawkins/Pelicans reserves vs. Micah Potter/Pacers depth: With injuries, Potter’s recent contributions (14 points, 4 threes vs. Miami) could swing momentum.

Series History

The Pacers lead the all-time series 30-22. In the last 6 meetings, it’s split 3-3, with the Pelicans winning the most recent on December 20, 2025 (128-109). Indiana has won 25 of 44 regular-season games overall, but New Orleans has covered the spread in 66.7% of recent head-to-heads. Home teams have dominated lately, with the Pacers 2-1 at Gainbridge in the past three seasons.

Betting Trends

Spread: Pacers are 21-20 ATS but just 2-4 as home favorites.

Moneyline: Indiana wins only 33.3% as favorites this season.

Over/Under: Pelicans games hit over in 24 of 43 (55.8%); Pacers in 24 of 41 (58.5%). Recent trends: Pelicans unders in 7 of last 10; Pacers overs in 6 of last 10.

Other Trends: Pelicans 9-33 straight-up but 50% ATS on the road. Pacers poor at home (2-16 SU) but cover 60% when favored by <3 points.

NBA Game Preview: Cleveland Cavaliers (23-19) vs. Philadelphia Sixers (22-17)

0

The Cleveland Cavaliers (23-19) take on the Philadelphia 76ers (22-17) in a quick rematch following Cleveland’s dominant 133-107 victory over Philadelphia on January 14, 2026. This Eastern Conference clash features the 7th-place Cavs against the 5th-place Sixers, with both teams vying for playoff positioning. The Cavaliers have won three of the last five head-to-heads, but injuries on both sides could make this a closer affair than their recent blowout suggests. Expect high-scoring guard play from Donovan Mitchell and Tyrese Maxey, though Cleveland’s frontcourt depth might exploit Philadelphia’s injury concerns.

Venue Location

Xfinity Mobile Arena, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. This 20,478-capacity venue is the home of the 76ers and known for its passionate crowd, especially in rivalry games.

Tipoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. ET (4:00 p.m. PT / 6:00 p.m. CT). The game will air on ESPN, NBCS-PH, and FDSOH, with streaming options on ESPN+ and NBA League Pass (regional restrictions apply).

Recent Team Forms

The Cavaliers have been inconsistent, going 5-5 in their last 10 games. They snapped a two-game skid with a 133-107 rout of the 76ers on January 14, highlighted by efficient shooting (55.7% FG). Key wins include a 146-134 shootout vs. Minnesota (January 10) and a 120-116 road victory at Indiana (January 6). Losses featured defensive lapses, like allowing 131 to Minnesota (January 8) and 123 to Utah (January 12). Offensively, they’ve averaged 120 PPG in wins but dip to ~115 in losses, with strong rebounding (45 RPG) but turnover issues.

The 76ers are 6-4 in their last 10, showing resilience despite injuries. They bounced back from the January 14 loss to Cleveland with a 115-102 win at Toronto (January 12), but fell 116-115 OT there the day before (January 11). Standout performances include a 103-91 defensive masterclass at Orlando (January 9) and a 131-110 blowout vs. Washington (January 7). Scoring averages 115 PPG recently, with solid defense holding opponents under 110 in wins, but rebounding (40 RPG) and turnovers remain vulnerabilities.

TeamLast 10 RecordAvg. PPG (Last 10)Avg. Opp. PPG (Last 10)Key Trend
Cavaliers5-5~122~120Explosive offense in wins (55%+ FG); struggle with perimeter defense, allowing high 3P% in losses.
76ers6-4~115~112Strong guard play drives wins; home form mixed (4-3 in last 7), with better road efficiency. statmuse.com +5

Injury Report

Injuries loom large, potentially slowing the pace and favoring under plays.

Cavaliers Key Injuries:

Darius Garland (PG): Out (right great toe soreness) – Major loss for playmaking; exited January 14 game.

Sam Merrill (G): Out (right hand sprain) – Hurts bench shooting; also left January 14.

Max Strus (G/F): Out (left foot surgery – Jones fracture) – Out indefinitely; impacts spacing.

Dean Wade (F): Out (left knee contusion) – Defensive specialist sidelined.

Others: Luke Travers (G League), Chris Livingston (G League) – Out.

76ers Key Injuries:

Dominick Barlow (F): Questionable (back contusion) – Suffered January 14; provides depth.

MarJon Beauchamp (G): Doubtful (G League two-way).

Johni Broome (F/C): Doubtful (G League on assignment).

Joel Embiid (C): Probable (left knee injury management) – Playing through recovery; key for interior dominance.

Paul George (F): Probable (left knee injury management) – Veteran scorer expected to suit up.

Kelly Oubre Jr. (G/F): Available (left knee injury recovery – brace).

With Garland and Merrill out, Cleveland leans on Mitchell; Philadelphia’s stars are probable but managed.

Key

Player Matchups

This game highlights star guards and bigs, with injuries shifting dynamics:

Donovan Mitchell (Cavs SG) vs. Tyrese Maxey (Sixers PG): Mitchell’s scoring (29.7 PPG, 35 in January 14 win) faces Maxey’s speed (30.5 PPG). Mitchell’s playmaking (9 AST vs. PHI) could exploit gaps if Maxey focuses on offense.

Evan Mobley (Cavs PF) vs. Joel Embiid (Sixers C): Mobley’s athleticism (recent double-doubles) tests Embiid’s managed knee (20+ PPG lately). Embiid’s post dominance could draw fouls, but Mobley’s blocks (e.g., 3 vs. PHI) provide rim protection.

Jarrett Allen (Cavs C) vs. Paul George (Sixers SF): Allen’s rebounding (10+ RPG) vs. George’s versatility (17 PPG vs. CLE). George’s knee management might limit defense, giving Allen inside edges.

Bench Battle: Georges Niang/Cavs reserves vs. Kelly Oubre Jr./Sixers depth: Niang’s shooting could fill Merrill’s void; Oubre’s energy (available) boosts Philly’s second unit.

Series History

The 76ers lead the all-time series 119-113. In the last 10 meetings, it’s split 5-5, with Cleveland winning the most recent on January 14 (133-107). Philadelphia has won 60% of home games vs. Cleveland in the past decade, but the Cavs are 3-2 in their last five visits. Road teams have covered the spread in 60% of recent matchups.

Key

Player Matchups

Key battles could decide this low-stakes Eastern clash:

Coby White (Bulls PG) vs. Cam Thomas (Nets SG): White’s scoring (e.g., 22 vs. Dallas) faces Thomas’ volume (averaging ~25 PPG lately). Thomas’ efficiency (45-50% FG) could exploit Bulls’ perimeter defense.

Nikola Vucevic (Bulls C) vs. Nic Claxton (Nets C): Vucevic’s double-doubles (35 points vs. Utah) test Claxton’s rim protection. Claxton’s rebounding (~9 RPG) might limit second chances.

Ayo Dosunmu (Bulls G) vs. Michael Porter Jr. (Nets SF): Dosunmu’s assists (e.g., 8 vs. Utah) vs. Porter’s scoring surge (25+ PPG recently). Porter’s 3-point threat could stretch Chicago’s defense.
