This marks a step-up in competition for both fighters, with Olivas leveraging his Olympic pedigree and technical edge against Deanda’s power and youth. As part of Dana White’s new boxing promotion, the fight promises high stakes in a packed card streamed live, pitting experience against raw potential in a matchup that could define their careers.

Fighter Records and Background

Misael Rodriguez Olivas (“El Chino”): 15-0-0 (7 KOs). Age 31 (born April 7, 1994). Height: 6’1″ (185 cm). Reach: N/A. Stance: Orthodox. Nationality: Mexican (from Ciénega de Ceniceros, Chihuahua). A 2016 Olympic bronze medalist (middleweight), Olivas turned pro in 2017 and has built a solid resume with a mix of knockouts and decisions. Known for precise counterpunching and endurance, he’s ranked highly in regional Mexican circuits.

Austin Deanda (“The Native Nightmare”): 17-0-0 (11 KOs). Age 22 (born May 20, 2003). Height: 5’11” (180 cm). Reach: N/A. Stance: Orthodox. Nationality: American (from Amherst, Virginia). Deanda turned pro young and has impressed with power (65% KO rate), including a nationally televised win on ESPN. He’s a Top Rank signee with aggressive, ground-and-pound influenced style from his amateur wrestling background.

Recent Form

Both fighters enter undefeated, but their paths differ. Olivas has faced more seasoned opposition, while Deanda’s wins come against regional talent.

Misael Rodriguez Olivas Last 5 Fights:

Jan 25, 2025: W UD vs. Omar Chavez (10 rounds) – Dominant performance with scores 96-94, 97-93, 98-92; showcased technical superiority.

Jul 22, 2022: W RTD vs. Jesus Arturo Acosta Zazueta (6 rounds) – Opponent retired due to injury; Olivas controlled with body work.

Earlier wins include decisions and KOs against Mexican prospects, maintaining a 100% win rate with no close calls.

Olivas is 5-0 in his last five, all wins by stoppage or wide decisions, showing improved finishing power (3 KOs in last 5).

Austin Deanda Last 5 Fights:

Sep 6, 2025: W UD vs. unnamed opponent (Lynchburg, VA) – Cruised to victory in a local showcase.

Nov 8, 2024: W UD vs. DeAundre Pettus (8 rounds, ESPN) – Unanimous decision (77-75, 78-74, 77-75); overcame hair malfunction mid-fight to outbox opponent.

Mar 16, 2024: W TKO vs. James Winchester (1 round) – Quick stoppage at 3:00; improved to 14-0.

Earlier bouts include KOs against gatekeepers, with a 4-0 streak in 2024-2025.

Deanda is 5-0 in his last five, with 3 KOs, demonstrating resilience (e.g., mid-fight haircut incident) and power against stepping-stone opponents.

Injury Report

No major injuries reported for either fighter as of the latest updates. Olivas has no history of recent setbacks, maintaining a clean bill of health through his 15-fight career. Deanda also appears fully fit, with no mentions of pulls or issues from his November 2024 bout. Monitor pre-fight weigh-ins for any last-minute concerns, as both are young and durable but undefeated streaks often hide minor nicks.

Fighter Matchups

This super middleweight clash features contrasting styles: Olivas’ technical, counterpunching approach vs. Deanda’s aggressive, power-oriented attack. At similar heights (Olivas 6’1″, Deanda 5’11”), reach could play a role, but Olivas’ Olympic experience gives him an edge in footwork and distance management.

Striking: Olivas (46.67% KO rate) relies on precision and volume, landing clean counters (e.g., against Chavez). Deanda (64.71% KO rate) pushes forward with hooks and body shots, overwhelming opponents early. Advantage: Olivas in a technical stand-up war.

Ground Game/Clinching: Minimal; both are stand-up fighters with limited grappling (no submissions in records). Deanda’s wrestling background could help in clinches, but Olivas’ endurance favors prolonged exchanges.

Cardio and Pace: Olivas has gone 10 rounds recently, showing stamina. Deanda’s youth (22) aids recovery, but he’s untested beyond 8 rounds. Back-to-back for Rangers? Wait, no – for this fight, Devils had B2B, but here Rangers.

X-Factor: Olivas’ amateur pedigree (Olympic bronze) vs. Deanda’s power; if it goes long, Olivas’ experience wins. Deanda needs early pressure.

Olivas ranks higher regionally (top Mexican prospect); Deanda is a US riser with Top Rank backing.

Fight History

This is the first professional meeting between Olivas and Deanda. No amateur or prior encounters noted. Both enter undefeated, making it a high-risk bout for their perfect records.

Rangers Acquire LHP MacKenzie Gore from Nationals in Five‑Player Deal

0

Arlington, Texas — The Texas Rangers today announced the acquisition of left‑handed pitcher MacKenzie Gore from the Washington Nationals in exchange for SS Gavin Fien, INF Devin Fitz‑Gerald, RHP Alejandro Rosario, 1B/OF Abimelec Ortiz, and OF Yeremy Cabrera.

Gore, 26, earned National League All‑Star honors in 2025, posting a 4–15 record with a 4.17 ERA (74 ER/159.2 IP), 3.74 FIP, 185 strikeouts, and a career‑best 3.0 bWAR across 30 starts. Among NL pitchers with at least 30 starts, he ranked 3rd in strikeouts per nine (10.43), 11th in total strikeouts, and 12th in FIP. He also recorded a career‑high 14 quality starts and produced a personal‑best 1.353 WHIP.

Gore notched 13 strikeouts on both March 27 vs. Philadelphia and April 19 at Colorado, joining Detroit’s Tarik Skubal and Seattle’s George Kirby as the only MLB pitchers with multiple 13‑strikeout outings in 2025.

Since debuting with San Diego in 2022, the Wilmington, N.C. native has gone 26–41 with a 4.19 ERA (248 ER/532.1 IP), 4.02 FIP, and 589 strikeouts in 105 games (102 starts) with the Padres (2022) and Nationals (2023–25). The former third overall pick in the 2017 MLB Draft was traded to Washington in the 2022 deal that sent Juan Soto to San Diego.

From 2023–25, Gore ranked 4th among NL qualifiers with 10.06 K/9, trailing only Freddy Peralta, Zack Wheeler, and Jesús Luzardo. His 517 strikeouts over that span ranked 6th in the NL, and his back‑to‑back seasons of 180+ strikeouts (181 in 2024, 185 in 2025) made him the first NL left‑hander to do so since Patrick Corbin (2018–19). He was also one of just 11 NL pitchers to make 100+ starts from 2022–25, becoming the first NL arm to reach that mark in his first four seasons since Kenta Maeda (2016–19).

Players Sent to Washington

Gavin Fien, SS (18)
Texas’ 12th overall pick in the 2025 MLB Draft, Fien appeared in 10 games for Single‑A Hickory, going 9‑for‑41 (.220) in his first professional action.

A 5th‑round pick in 2024, Fitz‑Gerald hit .302 with 6 HR and 20 RBI across 41 games between the ACL Rangers and Single‑A Hickory in 2025.

Alejandro Rosario, RHP (24)
Rosario spent the entire 2025 season on the 60‑day Injured List. The Florida native was selected in the 5th round of the 2023 MLB Draft out of the University of Miami.

Abimelec Ortiz, 1B/OF (23)
Ortiz played 130 games between Double‑A Frisco and Triple‑A Round Rock in 2025 before being added to the Rangers’ Major League roster on November 18. He originally signed with Texas as a minor league free agent in 2021.

Yeremy Cabrera, OF (20)
Cabrera hit .256 (98‑for‑383) with Hickory (A) in 2025. The left‑handed outfielder signed with Texas as a minor league free agent on January 15, 2022.

With today’s transactions, the Rangers remain at the 40‑man roster limit.
