New York Yankees finalize single roster transaction

Earlier today, the Yankees claimed INF/OF Marco Luciano off waivers from the Baltimore Orioles.

Luciano, 24, spent the entire 2025 season with Triple-A Sacramento in the San Francisco Giants organization, batting .214 (99-for-462) with 76R, 21 doubles, 1 triple, 23HR, 66RBI, 85BB and 10SB in 125 games. He appeared defensively in left field (107G/GS) and first base (1G/1GS). Over parts of six minor league seasons in the Giants system (2019, ’21-25), Luciano has batted .246 (455-for-1,848) with 326R, 86 doubles, 9 triples, 88HR, 297RBI, 302BB and 35SB over 500 games. He has appeared defensively in the minors at shortstop (294G/291GS), left field (107G/GS), second base (27G/GS) and first base (1G/GS).

The right-handed batter has appeared in parts of two Major League seasons with San Francisco (2023-24), hitting .217 (25-for-115) with 14R, 8 doubles, 1 triple, 3RBI, 11BB and 1SB over 41 games. He has appeared defensively at shortstop (22G/19GS) and second base (9G/7GS).

The San Francisco de Macorís, D.R., native was originally signed by San Francisco as a non-drafted free agent on July 2, 2018. He was claimed off waivers by the Pittsburgh Pirates on December 5, 2025. Luciano was designated for assignment by Pittsburgh on December 19, 2025 and claimed off waivers by Baltimore on January 7, 2026. He was designated for assignment by Baltimore on January 15, 2026.
