Pennsylvania gambling revenue hits record high in May 2026

HARRISBURG, Pa. – Pennsylvania set a new monthly record for gambling revenue in May, the state Gaming Control Board said Monday.

The agency reported $625.5 million in combined revenue from all regulated gambling sectors — including casinos, internet gaming, sports wagering, fantasy contests and video gaming terminals — a 3.9% increase from May 2025. The total surpassed the previous monthly high of $623.1 million, set in January 2025.

State and local governments collected $269.9 million in tax revenue during the month.

According to the board, retail table games generated $81.2 million, up 1.7% from a year earlier. Internet casino gaming continued to drive growth, producing $254.8 million, a 9.4% year‑over‑year increase.

Sports betting handle fell to $595.6 million, down 9.1% from May 2025. Taxable sports wagering revenue dropped 11.4% to $52.6 million.

Video gaming terminals at qualified truck stops brought in $3.6 million, a 3.1% decline from last year, though the number of locations offering the maximum five machines increased from 73 to 75.

Fantasy sports contests generated $1.12 million, up 3.3% from May 2025.

The Gaming Control Board publishes detailed monthly reports for each gambling category on its website.

Pittsburgh Pirates Acquire Right-Handed Pitcher Hunter Stratton From Atlanta For Catcher Joey Bart

0

The Pittsburgh Pirates tonight acquired right-handed pitcher Hunter Stratton from Atlanta, in exchange for catcher Joey Bart.

The 29-year-old Stratton, who was assigned to Triple-A Indianapolis, was originally selected by Pittsburgh out of Walters State (TN) Community College in the 16th round of the 2017 First-Year Player Draft.

He made his Major League debut with the Pirates on September 5, 2023 vs. Milwaukee. Stratton went 2-1 with a 4.30 ERA (52.1ip/25er) and 44 strikeouts in 47 games with Pittsburgh from 2023-25 before being traded to Atlanta for minor league outfielder Titus Dumitru and cash considerations last year on July 1.

Stratton posted a 2.20 ERA (16.1ip/4er) in 12 appearances with the Braves last season. He made one appearance with Atlanta this year, tossing 1.0 scoreless inning of relief on May 2 at Colorado. Stratton had a 4.38 ERA (24.2ip/12er) and 24 strikeouts in 21 appearances with Triple-A Gwinnett this season.

VENUE & TRACK PROFILE

Track Specs

  • Length: 0.875 miles (7/8‑mile short oval)
  • Banking:
    • Turns 1 & 2: 12–14°
    • Turns 3 & 4: 10–12°

  • Backstretch: 1,350 feet
  • Surface: Asphalt
  • Race Distance: 250 laps / 218.75 miles
  • Stage Breakdowns: 60 • 60 • 130

Track Characteristics

  • Progressive banking allows multiple grooves, especially late in the race.
  • Trucks can run bottom, middle, or high lane, creating constant side‑by‑side racing.
  • Tire wear is moderate, but long green‑flag runs reward trucks with strong long‑run balance.
  • Restarts are chaotic — inside lane advantage, but outside lane can pinch momentum off Turn 2.

WEATHER CONDITIONS

  • Temperature: 78–82°F at green flag
  • Wind: 8–12 mph from the southwest, blowing across the backstretch
  • Humidity: 55–60%
  • Rain: <10% chance — clear, dry racing conditions
  • Impact:
    • Cooler evening temps = more grip
    • Crosswind may affect entry into Turn 3
    • Track will tighten as sun sets
