For the third time this season, the Raptors prevailed over the visiting New Orleans Pelicans by a score of 115-110 on Thursday night. The Raptors won for the sixth time in their last seven games thanks to 26 points from Pascal Siakam.

The Pistons, who have lost six of their last seven games, are coming off a road loss to the Orlando Magic on Thursday, which they lost 108-106. With 5.2 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter, Detroit made a 3-pointer by Jaden Ivey, but Orlando won on a tip-layup by Wendell Carter Jr. at the final buzzer.

This season, the Raptors are 2-0 against the Pistons, winning 119-118 at home on Feb. 12.

despite the comeback of the Pelicans. What he saw defensively pleased the nurse.

Orlando, Fla. In the fourth quarter, Ivey made 10 of his 25 points as the rookie’s self-assurance increased.

MLS Preview: Minnesota United FC (0-0-0) at FC Dallas (0-0-0)

0

After the teams played 120 minutes of a 1-1 draw, it took penalties for FC to beat Minnesota United FC in the first round of the playoffs last season. After the road team won only one of the first 12 meetings between the teams (D2 L10), the 2022 regular season saw both teams win away from home.

Since the start of the 2010 season, FC Dallas has not lost a season opener (W7 D6), which is tied with Real Salt Lake’s current streak for the longest streak in MLS history. The last time Dallas lost a season opener was in 2009, when they lost to the Fire 3-1.

Last season, Minnesota United reached the postseason for the fourth time in a row by scoring 48 points. Along with New York City FC, the Red Bulls, and the Union, the Loons are one of four teams and the only West team to have made the playoffs in each of the last four MLS seasons.

In 2022, FC Dallas’ Jesus Ferreira set a single regular-season club record with 18 goals. He was joined by Paul Arriola (10 goals), making them the first American teammates since Clint Dempsey and Will Bruin for Seattle in 2017 to score at least 20 goals in a single MLS regular season.

Adrian Heath, Minnesota United’s only head coach in MLS history, is in his seventh season with the Loons and has coached 192 regular-season games. In the history of MLS, only two teams retained the same manager for an extended period of time: Dominic Kinnear of Houston (288) and Sigi Schmid of Seattle (250)

The Wolverines control their own destiny as the team holds a one-game lead in the WAC standings over Sam Houston and Southern Utah with three games to play. UVU also hold the top spot in the WAC resume seeding system. If the season ended today, UVU would take the No. 1 seed into the WAC Tournament in Las Vegas.

  • Aziz Bandaogo scored 11 points with seven rebounds and five blocks to lead Utah Valley in a 77-58 setback to Tarleton on Thursday night at Wisdom Gym in Stephenville, Texas. It’s only the second team in UVU history that the Wolverines have won 20-plus games in back-to-back seasons.

  • Aziz Bandaogo’s five swats at Tarleton on Thursday night gives him 83 blocks on the season, which is the most blocks in a season in UVU history. The 83 blocks breaks Emanuel Olojapoke’s previous single season record of 81 blocks set during the 2019-20 season.

  • Utah Valley has won 18 of its last 20 games over a nearly three-month stretch. During that stretch, Utah Valley rattled off 11 straight wins that began with an 88-78 win over Long Beach State on Dec. 3 and ended in an 85-80 loss to Seattle U on Jan. 14. The 11-game streak is the second longest streak in program history behind the 2011-12 team, which won 13 straight.

Thursday’s victory over Arkansas Tech gave Henderson State its sixth victory in a row to secure a spot in the 2023 GAC Tournament.

As a result, Henderson, seed three, will face either Southern Arkansas or Southeastern Oklahoma State in the first round if the Reddies win against Harding or lose to the Bison against East Central.

Henderson has defeated Harding six times in a row, most recently beating the Bisons 87-66 in Arkadelphia earlier this year thanks to 12 three-pointers made by HSU. The Reddies have prevailed in both of their previous outings at Rhodes-Reaves Fieldhouse, with the Reddies’ most recent defeat coming on HU’s own turf on January 14, 2021. Big man Taylor Currie is the nation’s fourth-leading scorer for the Bisons. He is averaging a league-high 24.1 points per game and a team-high 9.8 rebounds per game. In addition to Saturday being Harding’s Senior Night, head coach and athletic director Jeff Morgan will step down as head men’s basketball coach after 30 years and a record of 449-391. Morgan will be retiring from his position. In his eight years as head coach of HSU, Jimmy Elgas has an 11-6 record against Morgan.

Prior to the defeat, HSU had defeated the Lady Bison four times in a row, including victories at home and away.
