OTTAWA, ON – The New York Sirens have selected forward Kristýna Kaltounková from Colgate University with the first overall pick in the opening round of the 2025 Professional Women’s Hockey League (PWHL) Draft presented by Upper Deck, held at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Ottawa, Ontario.

Kaltounková, 23, hails from Vlasim, Czechia and made an immediate impact on the global stage with her debut at the 2025 IIHF Women’s World Championship, earning Tournament All-Star honors while representing the host nation. She became the first Czech player to be named a finalist for the prestigious Patty Kazmaier Memorial Award following a dominant senior season at Colgate, where she notched 48 points (26 goals, 22 assists) in 37 games.

Over her four-year NCAA career, Kaltounková set a new program record for career goals (111) and ranks second in all-time points (233), trailing only 2024 No. 2 overall pick Danielle Serdachny. Widely praised for her competitive edge and clutch play, Colgate Head Coach Stefan Decosse describes her as a “player who thrives under pressure and does whatever it takes to win.”
