Last season, Stanek played in 63 games between the Seattle Mariners and the Mets, achieving a 7-3 record with seven saves, a 4.88 ERA (30 ER/55.1 IP), 25 walks, and 67 strikeouts. Both his seven wins and seven saves were career highs. The right-hander was acquired from the Mariners at the trade deadline in exchange for minor league outfielder Rhylan Thomas. In his 17 appearances for the Mets, Stanek recorded 23 strikeouts in 16.1 innings.

Stanek tied for 12th in the majors with seven relief wins and was one of only 11 pitchers in the majors to record seven or more wins and seven or more saves in 2024.

“Ryne emerged as an important late-inning option for us last season, and we’re excited to bring him back,” said President of Baseball Operations David Stearns. “He brings a combination of experience and stuff that will complement the rest of our pen well.”

The 33-year-old has played in 401 career games over eight major league seasons with the Tampa Bay Rays, Miami Marlins, Houston Astros, Mariners, and Mets. He has a career record of 17-17 with 11 saves, a 3.65 ERA (163 ER/402.1 IP), 200 walks, and 473 strikeouts.

Stanek has also made 30 career postseason appearances, with a 4-0 record and a 2.89 ERA (9 ER/28.0 IP) along with nine walks and 29 strikeouts.

A native of St. Louis, MO, Stanek was selected by the Tampa Bay Rays in the first round (29th overall) of the 2013 First-Year Player Draft out of the University of Arkansas.
