FLUSHING, N.Y. – The New York Mets today announced two roster moves:
- RHP Joey Gerber acquired from the Tampa Bay Rays in exchange for cash considerations. He will be added to the 40-man roster.
- LHP Brandon Waddell signed to a one-year Major League contract for the 2026 season.
Joey Gerber
- Age: 28
- MLB Experience: Appeared in two games for Tampa Bay in 2025, posting a 2.08 ERA over 4.1 innings. Previously pitched for Seattle in 2020, going 1-1 with a 4.02 ERA across 17 appearances.
- 2025 Season: Spent most of the year at Triple-A Durham, striking out 54 batters in 43.2 innings over 34 games.
- Minor League Career: Across five seasons, owns a 4-7 record with 19 saves and a 3.47 ERA, striking out 207 in 153.0 innings.
- Background: Native of Maple Grove, Minnesota. Drafted by Seattle in the 8th round of the 2018 MLB Draft out of the University of Illinois.
Brandon Waddell
- Age: 31
- 2025 Season: Appeared in 11 games (one start) for the Mets, posting a 3.45 ERA over 31.1 innings with 22 strikeouts. Also pitched for Triple-A Syracuse, where he made 19 appearances (15 starts), going 3-9 with a 5.02 ERA.
- Career Notes: Has appeared in 22 Major League games, recording a 4.09 ERA across 44.0 innings.
- Background: Drafted by Pittsburgh in the 5th round of the 2015 MLB Draft out of the University of Virginia.
