NEW YORK New York City FC today announced the signing of forward Seymour Reid to a Short-Term Agreement from the club’s MLS NEXT Pro affiliate, New York City FC II.

This marks Reid’s third Short-Term Agreement of the 2025 season. The 17-year-old most recently featured in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup Round of 32, coming off the bench to make a second-half appearance. Earlier this year, Reid etched his name into club history by becoming the youngest player to debut for NYCFC, making his first-team appearance against the Columbus Crew.

A standout performer with NYCFC II, Reid has netted seven goals in 10 appearances, including a hat-trick in the Hudson River Derby against New York Red Bulls II. He currently ranks second in MLS NEXT Pro in scoring and will officially join the first team as a Homegrown Player in 2026.

Per MLS rules, clubs are permitted to sign players aged 25 or younger from their MLS NEXT Pro affiliate to up to four Short-Term Agreements per season. Players may appear in a maximum of two MLS regular season matches under such agreements, while there is no limit to participation in non-league competitions.

Reid has traveled with the squad to D.C. and is available for selection ahead of tonight’s match.
