New York City Acquires Defender Strahinja Tanasijević from FK Spartak Subotica

NEW YORK, – New York City FC have bolstered their defensive ranks with the signing of Strahinja Tanasijević from Serbian side FK Spartak Subotica. Tanasijević will join the Club upon receipt of his ITC and P-1 Visa and has signed a contract through the 2025 MLS season with options until 2027.

The 26-year-old arrives in New York having played 17 matches for FK Spartak Subotica in the Serbian Super Liga. The versatile defender, who can play at center back and right back, tallied more than 1,400 minutes for his former club, providing one assist during that time.  

“We would like to welcome Strahinja to New York. He’s an experienced player who will bolster our backline and give us more depth and competition,” said Sporting Director David Lee. “Strahinja is quick, aggressive and can play a high line, which suits our style of play. He’s a player who is entering the prime of his career and know he’s excited about the opportunity to play in Major League Soccer.” 

In addition to his time in the Serbian Super Liga, Strahinja has also gained playing experience in Italy and France. The right-footed defender has appeared in both Serie A and the UEFA Europa Conference League Qualifiers.
