FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – The New England Revolution have completed a trade, sending midfielder Olger Escobar’s Homegrown Priority Rights to CF Montréal in exchange for $125,000 in 2025 General Allocation Money (GAM). An additional $50,000 in conditional GAM may be earned if specific performance-related criteria are met. New England also retains a percentage of Escobar’s future sell-on rights.
Escobar’s Journey with the Revolution
A native of Revere, Mass., Escobar joined the Revolution Academy in 2018 and rapidly established himself as a standout player:
- Revolution Academy Success: Named the 2022-23 Revolution Academy Player of the Year, Escobar played a key role in leading the Under-19 team to back-to-back MLS NEXT Cup Championships.
- Revolution II Contributions: Between 2023-2025, Escobar recorded 34 regular season appearances (12 starts) with Revolution II, ranking among the top contributors in MLS NEXT Pro.
- 2025 Season: Logged 87 minutes across four substitute appearances and scored his first professional goal on March 28, contributing to a 4-0 win over Toronto FC II.
International Achievements
On the international stage, Escobar represents Guatemala, earning:
- Senior Caps: Seven appearances with one goal and two assists.
