Klay Thompson, after 13 seasons with Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors, is quickly adjusting to another superstar on his new team, the Dallas Mavericks. Thompson and Luka Doncic will team up for the second time this regular season when the Mavericks face the Phoenix Suns on Saturday night.

In his Dallas debut, Thompson scored 22 points and hit six 3-pointers, leading the Mavericks to a 120-109 victory over the San Antonio Spurs. With Thompson joining as a free agent, Dallas now boasts a formidable trio with Doncic, who had 28 points, 10 rebounds, and eight assists, and Kyrie Irving, who scored 15 points. Thompson was impressed by Doncic’s all-around game from a teammate’s perspective.

The Suns opened their season in Los Angeles, winning 116-113 in overtime against the Clippers but falling 123-116 to the Lakers. Despite leading by 22 points, Phoenix was outscored 71-55 in the second half. Kevin Durant scored 30 points, and Devin Booker added 23, but new coach Mike Budenholzer emphasized the need for better shot selection and more inside play.

Jusuf Nurkic struggled with foul trouble, managing just four points on 1-of-5 shooting while Anthony Davis scored 35 for the Lakers. Grayson Allen missed Friday’s game due to the upcoming birth of a child and Achilles soreness.

Last season, the Mavericks went 2-1 against the Suns, with a notable 128-114 road victory on Christmas night, where Doncic scored 50 points and reached over 10,000 career points. The upcoming game promises another exciting clash between these teams.
