MONTREAL – The Montreal Alouettes have moved quarterback Cody Fajardo to the six-game injured list. The team made the news official on Wednesday morning with the release of its depth chart.

Fajardo injured his hamstring in the Als’ Week 6 loss to the Toronto Argonauts. The 2023 Grey Cup MVP limped off of the field and didn’t finish the game, which turned out to be the team’s first loss of the season. Caleb Evans will get the start at quarterback on Thursday, when the Als host the Saskatchewan Roughriders at Percival Molson Memorial Stadium. Both teams lead their respective divisions with 5-1 records.

The Roughriders, of course, will also be relying on their backup as Shea Patterson gets his fourth start in place of the injured Trevor Harris. The team has also ruled out running back AJ Ouellette as he deals with a hip injury.

The Alouettes were off in Week 7, but Fajardo missed practice all week in preparation for their Week 8 matchup against the Riders. The quarterback is having an excellent start to the season, completing 141 of 182 passes for 1,636 yards, 10 touchdowns and four interceptions for a 5-1 Alouettes squad.

Evans completed 12 of 22 passes for 127 yards, two majors and two interceptions in relief of Fajardo in Week 6.

Ouellette also missed practice all week for Saskatchewan. The tailback rushed 17 times for 88 yards in the Riders’ win over the Blue Bombers in Week 7.

The Green and White also ruled out receiver Kian Schaffer-Baker, who was absent from practice all week with a shoulder injury.

In other injury news, the Alouettes also announced that safety Marc-Antoine Dequoy and defensive back Wesley Sutton are returning to the lineup in Week 8.

The Als and Riders square off on Thursday, July 25, at Percival Molson Memorial Stadium. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. ET.
