The Galaxy won their first seven home MLS matches against Vancouver (including playoffs) from 2011 to 2014. Since 2015, though, the Galaxy have just three wins in nine home matches against the Whitecaps (D2 L4), winning just once at home against Vancouver since 2019 (D1 L2).
The Galaxy have lost six of their last eight matches (W2), with both wins coming in their only games against Eastern foes in that time. The Galaxy have lost six straight matches against Western opposition, equaling the longest such run in club history (also in 2006 and 2020).
The Whitecaps scored in the 88th and 92nd minutes to turn a 1-0 deficit into a 2-1 win against Houston on Friday. It marked the first time Vancouver won a match in which it trailed in the 88th minute or later, having failed to win any of the previous 166 such games in the club’s MLS history (D13 L153).
Dejan Joveljic has scored all nine of his goals this season at home, including in each of his last six MLS matches at Dignity Health Sports Park. No Galaxy player has scored in more than six straight regular season home games.
Vancouver has collected an MLS-high 13 points on goals scored in the 80th minute or later this season, four more than any other team. One-third (9/27) of Vancouver’s goals this season have either been equalizing or match-winning goals in the 80th minute or later.
