MLS Preview: FC Cincinnati (17-4-7) at CF Montréal Impact (11-14-3)

FC Cincinnati ended a four-match winless run against the CF Montreal Impact (D1 L3) with a 3-0 victory at home on May 17. CF Montreal Impact have scored 13 goals in its three wins over FC Cincinnati but has managed just two goals in the other five meetings (D1 L4).

The CF Montreal Impact have managed just two wins in its last eight home matches in all competitions (D2, including a penalty shoot-out win, L4) after winning eight straight home matches from April to June this year.

FC Cincinnati came from 2-0 down to draw, 2-2, at the Philadelphia Union last Saturday. FC Cincinnati lost only three of its last 20 regular-season away matches (W7 D10) dating back to July 2022, the first team to lose three or fewer times over a span of 20 road games since Toronto FC in 2016-17.

Nine of the 19 shots CF Montreal Impact attempted against the Chicago Fire on Saturday were taken by substitutes, with Bryce Duke taking four and Chinonso Offor attempting three. It was the first time in club history that two substitutes attempted three or more shots in a single match.

The 2-2 comeback draw at the Philadelphia Union on Saturday was the league-leading third time this season that FC Cincinnati has avoided defeat after trailing by multiple goals (D3 L3). FC Cincinnati had lost all 49 times it had trailed by multiple goals in the club’s first four MLS seasons.
