This is the series finale of a three-game interleague set at Comerica Park. The series is tied 1-1 after the Dodgers won 2-1 on Friday and the Tigers responded with a 2-1 victory on Saturday. Glasnow has been excellent in limited action this season after returning from a lengthy IL stint (back). He recently threw five innings with seven strikeouts against Atlanta. He generates elite strikeout rates and limits hard contact. This is a strong matchup for the Dodgers against a struggling Tigers offense.
Tigers: LHP Framber Valdez (8-9, 4.35 ERA, 1.41 WHIP, 111 K in 144.2 IP)
Valdez has been inconsistent in his first season with Detroit after signing a big free-agent deal. He induces ground balls but has walked too many batters and allowed more contact than in prior years with Houston. Recent outings have been mixed, including a zero-strikeout start. Left-handed batters in the Dodgers lineup (Ohtani, Freeman, etc.) present challenges.

Shohei Ohtani vs. Valdez: Ohtani leads the Dodgers with 30 HR and strong extra-base production. As a lefty hitter facing a lefty, platoon dynamics matter, but his power remains elite. He is not pitching Sunday.
Freddie Freeman & Mookie Betts: Contact and on-base threats who can set the table or drive in runs.
Kevin McGonigle & Dillon Dingler: Top Tigers performers; Dingler has 26 HR and solid RBI production. McGonigle provides multi-hit capability.
Glasnow’s high-velocity stuff and strikeouts should neutralize much of Detroit’s contact-oriented approach. Valdez’s ground-ball style could limit damage if the Dodgers put the ball in play, but walk issues and the Dodgers’ patient approach create risk.
Both teams have dealt with significant injuries, thinning depth, especially in the outfield for Detroit and the pitching staff for Los Angeles.
