Ronny Henriquez optioned to Triple-A St. Paul

PHOENIX, AZ – The Minnesota Twins announced today that they have selected the contract of right-handed pitcher David Festa from Triple-A St. Paul.

Festa has gone 3-2 with a 3.77 ERA (59.2 IP, 25 ER), 24 walks, 87 strikeouts and a .241 (53-for-220) opponent batting average in 14 starts for the Saints this season. He has struck out 10 batters in a start thrice, on April 30 vs. Louisville, May 11 at Toledo and June 14 at Louisville. Entering today, his 87 strikeouts lead all Twins farmhands and rank second in the International League. The 24-year-old was also named Twins minor league Pitcher of the Week twice, on May 5 and June 16. Festa has gone 17-10, 3.41 ERA (264.0 IP, 100 ER) with 104 walks, 326 strikeouts and a 1.23 WHIP in 63 career minor league appearances (54 starts).

The Verona, NJ native was selected by Minnesota in the 13th round of the 2021 Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft out of Seton Hall University, where he pitched from 2019-21. He is currently ranked as the fifth-best prospect (top pitching prospect) in the Twins’ system and the 99th-best prospect in baseball, per MLB.com. Festa is scheduled to make his major league debut this afternoon against the Arizona Diamondbacks, starting and wearing jersey number 58.

To make room for Festa on the club’s 26-man roster, the Twins have optioned right-handed pitcher Ronny Henriquez to St. Paul. Henriquez, who was recalled on Tuesday, appeared last night in Arizona, pitching 1.0 scoreless inning with one strikeout.
