NEW YORK, NY – The Minnesota Twins announced today that they have placed right-handed pitcher Brock Stewart on the 15-day Injured List with a right shoulder strain (retroactive to July 30).

Stewart, who was reinstated from the 60-day Injured List on July 24 (right shoulder tendinitis), recently appeared in three games for the Twins over the past week, allowing eight runs on seven hits in 2.1 innings pitched, with two walks and three strikeouts. Overall this season, the 32-year-old has appeared in 16 games for Minnesota, posting a 5.17 ERA (15.2 IP, 9 ER) with eight walks and 20 strikeouts.

Taking the 26-man roster spot vacated by Stewart will be right-handed pitcher Trevor Richards, who was acquired in a trade with the Toronto Blue Jays yesterday. Richards will be in uniform for today’s game in New York against the Mets and will wear jersey number 32.
