MINNEAPOLIS-ST. PAUL, MN – The Minnesota Twins have announced the acquisition of infielder Kody Clemens from the Philadelphia Phillies in exchange for cash considerations.

Clemens, 28, was designated for release or assignment by the Phillies on April 23. He has appeared in seven games this season, going 0-for-6 with one walk. A native of Houston, Texas, Clemens was originally drafted by the Detroit Tigers in the third round of the 2018 MLB Draft out of the University of Texas at Austin. Across 153 career Major League games with the Tigers (2022) and Phillies (2023-25), Clemens has compiled a .197 batting average (74-for-376) with 20 doubles, one triple, 14 home runs, 48 RBIs, 22 walks, 45 runs scored, and a .611 OPS.

Over his four Major League seasons, Clemens has displayed versatility, appearing at first base (67 games/53 starts), third base (28 games/21 starts), second base (18 games/10 starts), left field (17 games/6 starts), right field (1 game/start), and shortstop (1 game). The son of legendary pitcher Roger Clemens, Kody will be in uniform for today’s game against the Los Angeles Angels at Target Field and will wear uniform number 18.

To make room for Clemens on the 26-man roster, the Twins have placed infielder Luke Keaschall on the 10-day Injured List with a right forearm fracture. Keaschall sustained the injury last night after being hit by a pitch in the first inning. The rookie infielder made his MLB debut on April 18 and has been impressive in seven games, hitting .368 (7-for-19) with three doubles, two RBIs, five walks, four runs scored, a .538 on-base percentage, and a 1.064 OPS.

These moves adjust the Twins’ roster as they continue their season against the Los Angeles Angels today.
