Milwaukee Holds 17th, 34th, 57th and 67th Overall Selections to Open 2024 First-Year Player Draft

MILWAUKEE – The Milwaukee Brewers will make four selections on the first day of the 2024 First-Year Player Draft, which begins Sunday, July 14 at 6 p.m. CT at Cowtown Coliseum in Fort Worth, Texas as part of Major League Baseball’s All-Star Week.

Broadcast live on MLB Network and ESPN, the first day of the 2024 First-Year Player Draft begins with the first round and is followed by prospect promotion incentive picks, compensation picks, Competitive Balance Round A, the second round and Competitive Balance Round B.

With four picks on Sunday, the Brewers are tied with the Diamondbacks and Twins for the most first-day selections.

The Brewers hold the 17th (first round), 34th (Competitive Balance Round A), 57th (second round) and 67th (Competitive Balance Round B) selections on Sunday. The 34th pick was acquired from Baltimore along with left-handed pitcher DL Hall and infielder Joey Ortiz in exchange for right-handed pitcher Corbin Burnes.

The Brewers have four players ranked in MLB Pipeline’s top 100 prospects, including 2022 second-round selection (63rd overall) Jacob Misiorowski and 2021 Competitive Balance Round A pick (33rd overall) Tyler Black.

Milwaukee currently has three of its former first-round picks on its roster in outfielders Sal Frelick (15th overall in 2021) and Garrett Mitchell (20th overall in 2020) and infielder Brice Turang (21st overall in 2018).

The 2024 First-Year Player Draft resumes on MLB.com on Monday, July 15 at 1 p.m. CT with rounds 3-10. Rounds 11-20 will be held Tuesday, July 16 starting at 1 p.m. CT on MLB.com.
