Milwaukee Brewers Sign Left-Hander Tyler Alexander to One-Year Contract

MILWAUKEE – The Milwaukee Brewers have signed left-handed pitcher Tyler Alexander to a one-year contract. In a corresponding move, the Brewers have placed left-handed pitcher Robert Gasser on the 60-day injured list. This announcement was made by Senior Vice President and General Manager Matt Arnold.

Alexander, 30, has pitched six seasons in the Major Leagues with the Detroit Tigers (2019-23) and the Tampa Bay Rays (2024), compiling a record of 17-28 with a 4.55 ERA in 143 games, including 52 starts. Known for his control, Alexander has issued just 98 walks in 449.0 career innings pitched (1.96 BB/9IP).

Last season with the Rays, Alexander posted a 6-5 record with a 5.10 ERA in 23 games (9 starts). He set career highs in innings pitched (107.2), strikeouts (90), and wins. He pitched at least 3.0 innings in 13 of his 14 relief appearances, including going 4.0 innings or more 11 times. Alexander ended the season with 10.1 consecutive scoreless innings, with 9.1 of those innings coming over his last two outings, both starts.

Alexander was originally selected by the Detroit Tigers in the second round of the 2015 First-Year Player Draft out of Texas Christian University.
