Milwaukee – The Milwaukee Brewers have announced the acquisition of right-handed pitcher Grant Anderson from the Texas Rangers in exchange for left-handed pitcher Mason Molina. The announcement was made by Senior Vice President and General Manager Matt Arnold.
Grant Anderson:
- Age: 27
- Roster Status: Added to the Brewers’ 40-man roster, which remains at 40. To make room, left-handed pitcher Tyler Jay was designated for assignment.
- Recent Performance: Pitched parts of the last two seasons with the Rangers, appearing in 49 games, all in relief. In 2024, he appeared in 26 games at Triple-A Round Rock, recording a 3-0 record with a 2.93 ERA and 1 save. He held opponents to a .216 batting average with 34 strikeouts in 27.2 innings pitched.
- Background: Originally selected by the Seattle Mariners in the 21st round of the 2018 First-Year Player Draft out of McNeese State University. Acquired by the Rangers in exchange for right-handed pitcher Connor Sadzeck on April 2, 2019.
Mason Molina:
- Age: 21
- Draft and Debut: Selected by Milwaukee in the seventh round of the 2024 First-Year Player Draft out of the University of Arkansas. Made his professional debut last season at Class-A Carolina, making 2 starts.
This trade brings a seasoned reliever in Anderson to the Brewers, while the Rangers acquire a promising young pitcher in Molina.
