MILWAUKEE – The Milwaukee Brewers have finalized a trade with the Chicago White Sox, acquiring first baseman/outfielder Andrew Vaughn in exchange for right-handed pitcher Aaron Civale and cash considerations. Vaughn has been assigned to Triple-A Nashville, according to an announcement from Senior Vice President and General Manager Matt Arnold.

Andrew Vaughn: A Versatile Addition

Vaughn, 27, has spent his entire five-year MLB career with the White Sox (2021-25), compiling a .248 batting average with 77 home runs and 293 RBIs across 610 games. His defensive versatility includes time at first base (323 games), left field (126 games), designated hitter (84 games), right field (53 games), second base (1 game), and third base (1 game).

His best season came in 2023, when he hit 21 home runs and drove in 80 RBIs across 152 games. In 2025, Vaughn struggled at the plate, batting .189 (35-for-185) with 5 home runs and 19 RBIs in 48 games, leading to his May 23 option to Triple-A Charlotte, where he played 15 games.

A former first-round pick (third overall) in the 2019 MLB Draft, Vaughn was selected out of the University of California, Berkeley, and has remained in the White Sox organization until this trade.

Aaron Civale: A Veteran Arm for Chicago

Civale, who celebrated his 30th birthday yesterday, has pitched in the Major Leagues with Cleveland (2019-23), Tampa Bay (2023-24), and Milwaukee (2024-25). In 2025, he has posted a 1-2 record with a 4.91 ERA across five starts, logging 22 innings, 23 hits, 12 runs (all earned), 7 walks, and 19 strikeouts, while allowing five home runs.

Civale joins a White Sox rotation in need of stability, bringing experience from multiple teams and a track record of reliable innings.

Trade Impact & Outlook

The Brewers bolster their depth at first base and outfield while adding Vaughn’s potential power to their system. Meanwhile, the White Sox gain a veteran pitcher in Civale, who could provide immediate impact for their rotation.
