Miami Marlins agree to terms with free agent infielder Eric Wagaman

MIAMI – The Miami Marlins have announced the signing of free agent infielder Eric Wagaman to a one-year Major League contract. To accommodate Wagaman on the 40-man roster, infielder Vidal Bruján has been designated for assignment.

Eric Wagaman, 27:

  • MLB Debut: Made his MLB debut last season with the Los Angeles Angels, appearing in 18 games. He posted a .250/.270/.403 slash line with five doubles, two home runs, and 10 RBI. He made 17 starts at third base and appeared in one game in left field.
  • Minor League Performance: Spent most of 2024 in the Angels’ Minor League system. In 94 games with Double-A Rocket City, he hit .260 with a .795 OPS, earning Southern League Post-Season All-Star honors. Following his promotion, he batted .320 with an .855 OPS in 27 games with Triple-A Salt Lake.
  • Background: Selected by the Yankees in the 13th round of the 2017 First-Year Player Draft. Over seven years in the Yankees organization, he posted a .241/.312/.388 slash line with 41 home runs and 170 RBI in 393 games. Wagaman has primarily played first base but has also appeared in right field, third base, and left field.

Vidal Bruján, 26:
