MBB-FCS: VMI Keydets (6-20) at East Tennessee State Buccaneers (9-17)

The ETSU men’s basketball team looks to sweep the regular season series over VMI as the Buccaneers host the Keydets in a rare Friday night Southern Conference matchup. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. inside Freedom Hall.

ABOUT THE BUCS

· The Bucs are looking to snap a two-game skid as ETSU sits at 9-17 overall and 5-8 in SoCon play

· ETSU is coming off a 91-65 setback at UNCG on Tuesday night where Jalen Haynes (Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.) and Jordan King (Albany, N.Y.) combined for 43 points on 15-of-29 shooting

· Haynes registered his third straight 20-point scoring game (seventh of the season) as he netted 23 points, six rebounds and two assists against the Spartans

· Over his last seven games, Haynes has totaled 151 points and 53 rebounds, while shooting 62 percent from the field (57-92) … Haynes, who is averaging 21.6 points during this stretch, has accounted for 32 percent of the Bucs’ scoring over this run

· King totaled his 14th career 20-point scoring game as he finished exactly with 20 points on Tuesday night in Greensboro

· Jordan King and Jalen Haynes accounted for 43 of ETSU’s 65 points and 15 of its 22 made field goals Tuesday night at UNCG … King and Haynes haven been carrying the load for the Bucs over the last seven games as they have accounted for 53% of the scoring (249 of the 472 points) and 54% of their field goals (95 of the 175) … The duo has been efficient as they have done this while accounting for less than 50 percent of the team’s shots (48%, 187 of 388)

· The Bucs, who have just played six games on Friday since the start of the 2018-19 season, are playing their first conference game on a Friday since Feb. 23, 2018 when ETSU hosted Wofford

· ETSU has made at least one three-pointer in 1,118 straight games – the fourth-longest streak in the country

VMI enters Friday’s game with an overall record of 6-20 and league mark of 1-12
The Keydets have dropped 12 of their 13 road games this season with the lone win being a 75-69 victory over The Citadel on Feb. 2
