HARRISON, NJ – NJ/NY Gotham FC hits the road for back-to-back away games this week, with the club’s first stop at the Houston Dash on Wednesday night at Shell Energy Stadium (8 p.m. ET, NWSL+). Wednesday’s match will be the first time the two sides have squared off this season.
Gotham FC is looking to build off its first home win of the season on Saturday night, when the club defeated the North Carolina Courage 1-0. Forward Lynn Williams scored the game’s lone goal in the 11th minute with a clinical finish in the top corner after a missed clearance from the Courage’s defense. The goal also marked the 300th goal in all competitions in club history.
After a four-hour weather delay on Sunday night, Houston played to a 1-1 draw against the Kansas City Current. The Dash went down a goal early in the first half, but forward Amanda West found the equalizer in the 71st minute after a turnover by the Current.
The last time the two sides met was October 1, 2023 at Red Bull Arena. Gotham FC fell 2-0 against the Dash. Houston forward Michelle Alozie recorded a brace in the match. Despite the loss late in the season, Gotham FC still had the opportunity to clinch a playoff spot, which eventually led to the team’s historic playoff run and capturing the 2023 NWSL Championship title.
