Los Angeles Dodgers recall RHP Paul Gervase; option RHP Alexis Díaz to Triple-A

LOS ANGELES – The Los Angeles Dodgers announced today that they have recalled right-handed pitcher Paul Gervase and optioned right-hander Alexis Díaz to Triple-A Oklahoma City.

Gervase, 25, returns for his second stint with the Dodgers this season. The towering 6-foot-10 righty posted a 2-0 record with a 2.08 ERA and nine strikeouts over 8.2 innings in five appearances for Oklahoma City. Earlier this year, he pitched in five games for the Tampa Bay Rays, striking out six batters across 6.1 innings. Over four minor league seasons, Gervase has compiled a 13-8 record, 2.93 ERA, and 261 strikeouts in 162.1 innings. He was selected by the New York Mets in the 12th round of the 2022 MLB Draft out of Louisiana State University.

Díaz, 28, heads back to Triple-A after appearing in nine games for Los Angeles, posting a 1-0 record with a 5.00 ERA. Acquired from the Cincinnati Reds on May 29 in exchange for minor league pitcher Mike Villani, Díaz is a 2023 National League All-Star, having recorded 37 saves with a 3.07 ERA in a career-high 71 games that season. Now in his fourth Major League campaign, he owns a career mark of 75 saves in 86 opportunities, with a 3.29 ERA across 205 appearances. He was originally drafted by Cincinnati in the 12th round of the 2015 MLB Draft out of Juan Jose Maunez High School in Puerto Rico.
