Los Angeles Dodgers Recall RHP Matt Sauer, Designate José Ureña for Assignment

LOS ANGELES – The Los Angeles Dodgers have recalled right-handed pitcher Matt Sauer to the Major League roster and designated RHP José Ureña for assignment.

Matt Sauer Returns to Dodgers’ Bullpen

Sauer, 26, rejoins the Dodgers for his fourth stint this season. The right-hander has posted a 1-0 record with a 3.05 ERA in seven appearances.

Last season, Sauer made his MLB debut with the Kansas City Royals, appearing in 14 games and recording a 7.71 ERA. Originally drafted by the New York Yankees in the second round of the 2017 MLB Draft, Sauer was selected out of Ernest Righetti High School (Santa Maria, Calif.).

José Ureña Designated for Assignment

Ureña, 33, pitched in two games for the Dodgers, allowing one run in three innings. He previously played for the Toronto Blue Jays, where he made six appearances, posting a 3.65 ERA.

The veteran right-hander began the 2025 season with the New York Mets, making one appearance and allowing five runs in three innings. Over his 11-season MLB career, Ureña has played for the Miami Marlins (2015-20), Detroit Tigers (2021), Milwaukee Brewers (2022), Colorado Rockies (2022-23), Chicago White Sox (2023), Texas Rangers (2024), Mets (2025), Blue Jays (2025), and Dodgers (2025), compiling a 44-77 record with a 4.78 ERA in 241 games.
