Los Angeles Dodgers Recall James Outman, Place Teoscar Hernández on Injured List

LOS ANGELES – The Los Angeles Dodgers have recalled outfielder James Outman while placing Teoscar Hernández on the injured list due to a left groin strain.

Outman, 27, joins the Dodgers’ roster for the first time this season after batting .254 with eight home runs and 27 RBIs in Triple-A Oklahoma City. Last season, he appeared in 53 games with Los Angeles, hitting four home runs and driving in 11 runs. This marks his fourth season with the organization, where he has compiled a .231/.337/.408 slash line with 28 home runs and 84 RBIs. A product of Sacramento State University, Outman was originally selected by the Dodgers in the seventh round of the 2018 MLB Draft.

Hernández, 32, exited yesterday’s game in the fourth inning due to injury. The veteran outfielder has been a key contributor this season, batting .315 with nine home runs and a Major League-leading 34 RBIs across 33 games. Since joining Los Angeles in 2024, Hernández has played in 187 games, hitting 42 home runs and driving in 133 runs. Over his career spanning 998 games, he has suited up for the Houston Astros (2016-17), Toronto Blue Jays (2017-22), Seattle Mariners (2023), and Dodgers (2024-present), posting a .264 batting average with 201 home runs and 606 RBIs. Hernández re-signed with the Dodgers on January 3, 2025.
