The Los Angeles Dodgers have announced the acquisition of Yoendrys Gómez after claiming the right-handed pitcher off waivers from the New York Yankees.
Gómez, 25, appeared in six games for the Yankees this season before being designated for assignment earlier this week. During his time on the mound, he posted a 1-1 record with a 2.70 ERA and five strikeouts over 10 innings. Over parts of three seasons in the Majors with the Yankees, Gómez has compiled a 1-1 record and a 3.09 ERA across 12 appearances.
In the minors, Gómez has built a solid track record, holding a 12-17 record with a 3.49 ERA in 101 games over seven seasons. He originally joined the Yankees organization as an international signing on July 2, 2016, hailing from Nirgua, Venezuela. This acquisition adds depth to the Dodgers’ pitching roster as they continue their campaign.
