Los Angeles Dodgers Add Lou Trivino to Roster, Place Kirby Yates on Injured List

LOS ANGELES – The Los Angeles Dodgers have selected the contract of veteran right-handed pitcher Lou Trivino, while placing Kirby Yates on the injured list due to a right hamstring strain.

Trivino Joins Dodgers After Brief Stint with Giants

Trivino, 33, appeared in 11 games for the San Francisco Giants earlier this season before being designated for assignment on May 5. He recorded a 1-0 record with a 5.84 ERA, striking out 11 batters in 12.1 innings.

Over the course of six MLB seasons, Trivino has pitched for the Oakland Athletics (2018-22), New York Yankees (2022), and Giants (2025), compiling 297 innings, a 22-25 record, and a 3.94 ERA. After signing with the Dodgers as a minor league free agent on May 11, he made one appearance for Triple-A Oklahoma City before being called up to the big league club.

Yates Hits Injured List for First Time in 2025

Yates, 38, heads to the IL for the first time this season after posting a 3-2 record with a 4.34 ERA in 22 appearances for the Dodgers. The experienced reliever has appeared in 444 career games, pitching for the Tampa Bay Rays (2014-15), New York Yankees (2016), Los Angeles Angels (2017), San Diego Padres (2017-20), Atlanta Braves (2022-23), Texas Rangers (2024), and now the Dodgers (2025). He holds a career 29-23 record, along with 96 saves and 602 strikeouts across 430 innings.

The Hawaii native was originally signed as an undrafted free agent by the Rays on June 22, 2009.

Trivino’s addition strengthens the Dodgers’ bullpen depth as they navigate Yates’ absence.
