LOS ANGELES – The Los Angeles Dodgers activated right-handed pitcher Tyler Glasnow, signed and activated infielder Nick Ahmed, optioned right-handed pitcher Landon Knack and placed infielder Miguel Rojas on the injured list with right forearm tightness, retroactive July 22. In order to make room on the 40-man roster, the Dodgers designated right-handed pitcher Ricky Vanasco for assignment.
Glasnow, 31, will make the start this evening after missing 13 games with lower back tightness. He was selected to his first career All-Star team after making 18 starts in the first half for the Dodgers. He went 8-5 with a 3.47 ERA and 143 strikeouts in 109 innings. The Southern California native is in his ninth Major League season and is 38-32 with a 3.82 ERA and 821 strikeouts in 638.2 innings.
Ahmed, 34, joins the Dodgers after spending the first half of the season with the Giants. He played 52 games for San Francisco, hitting .232 with one homer, six doubles and 15 RBI and was released on July 10. He was a standout at shortstop, making three errors in 198 chances and turning 33 double plays. He has been in the Major Leagues parts of 11 seasons with Arizona (2014-23) and San Francisco (2024), hitting .234 with 71 homers and 337 RBI in 940 games. He won the Rawlings Gold Glove in back-to-back seasons from 2018-19, making a total of 22 errors in 1,238 chances with 177 double plays. He was originally drafted by the Atlanta Braves in the second round of the 2011 First Year Player Draft out of the University of Connecticut.
Rojas, 35, was removed from the game on Sunday night with right forearm tightness, missing the last two games. On the season, he is batting .271 with three homers and 21 RBI in 67 games. He is in his 11th season in the Major Leagues with Los Angeles (2014, 2023-24) and Miami (2015-22), slashing .258/.311/.357 with 47 homers and 321 RBI in 1,146 career games. He was acquired by the Dodgers on January 11, 2023 in exchange for minor league infielder Jacob Amaya.
Knack, 27, recorded his second win of the season last night, tossing 5.0 innings of one-run baseball against the Giants. He fanned six batters as he improved to 2-2 on the season. The Tennessee native owns a 3.07 ERA with 42 strikeouts in 44.0 innings in nine games (eight starts) for the Dodgers. The former second round pick out of the East Tennessee State University has appeared in 65 minor league games, going 17-14 with a 3.43 ERA and 313 strikeouts in 275.2 innings.
