LOS ANGELES – The Los Angeles Dodgers have reinstated right-handed pitcher Tony Gonsolin from the injured list and optioned right-handed pitcher Matt Sauer to Triple-A.
Tony Gonsolin
Gonsolin, 30, returns to action after missing the entire 2024 season and the first 30 games of 2025 while recovering from Tommy John surgery. In 2023, he made 20 starts, finishing with an 8-5 record and a 4.98 ERA. A 2022 All-Star, Gonsolin had a standout season that year, posting a 12-1 record with a 2.14 ERA across 24 games.
Over his five seasons with the Dodgers, Gonsolin has compiled a 34-11 record with a 3.19 ERA in 79 games (71 starts). He was originally selected in the ninth round of the 2016 First-Year Player Draft out of St. Mary’s College.
Matt Sauer
Sauer, 26, recorded his first career win last night, delivering five innings of one-run ball against the Miami Marlins. He is 1-0 with a 2.70 ERA in 6.2 innings this season. Sauer made his Major League debut in 2024 with the Kansas City Royals, appearing in 14 games and posting a 7.71 ERA. He was drafted by the Yankees in the second round of the 2017 First-Year Player Draft out of Ernest Righetti High School in Santa Maria, California.
These moves reflect the Dodgers’ efforts to strengthen their pitching staff as Gonsolin makes his long-awaited return to the mound.
