LOS ANGELES — The Los Angeles Dodgers overhauled their roster Tuesday, activating newly acquired left‑hander Tarik Skubal, selecting the contracts of Chuckie Robinson and Jonathan Hernández, placing catcher Dalton Rushing on the injured list, and optioning right‑hander Emmet Sheehan to Triple‑A Oklahoma City. To clear space on the 40‑man roster, the club designated right‑hander Wyatt Mills for assignment.
Skubal Joins Active Roster After Trade From Detroit
Skubal, 29, arrives one day after the Dodgers acquired him from the Detroit Tigers in a three‑player deal involving outfielder Zyhir Hope and pitchers River Ryan and Brady Smith. The two‑time Cy Young Award winner is in the midst of another standout season, posting a 7–5 record, 2.79 ERA, and 16 starts in 2026.
After undergoing surgery earlier this year to remove loose bodies from his elbow, Skubal has been dominant since returning, recording a 2.87 ERA with 71 strikeouts in 53.1 innings. Over seven major league seasons, he owns a 61–42 record, 3.04 ERA, 1,005 strikeouts, and a 1.012 WHIP across 153 games. Detroit selected him in the ninth round of the 2018 MLB Draft out of the University of Seattle.
Robinson Returns to Dodgers Catching Corps
Robinson, 31, rejoins Los Angeles after appearing in eight games earlier this season, collecting two hits in 23 at‑bats. He also appeared in one game for the Dodgers in 2025 and has logged major league time with Cincinnati (2022), the White Sox (2024), and Los Angeles (2026). Across parts of three seasons, he is a .124 hitter with two home runs and six RBI.
At Triple‑A Oklahoma City, Robinson played 33 games, hitting .229 with five home runs and 23 RBI. Houston drafted him in the 21st round of the 2016 draft out of Southern Mississippi.
Hernández Selected After Earlier DFA
Hernández, 30, returns to the Dodgers less than a month after being designated for assignment and outrighted to Triple‑A. He made 12 appearances for Los Angeles this season, allowing 16 runs in 17.2 innings with 15 strikeouts. At Oklahoma City, he posted a 6.14 ERA in seven games.
The veteran right‑hander has pitched in parts of six major league seasons with Texas, Seattle, and Los Angeles, compiling a 13–8 record, 4.69 ERA, and 165 strikeouts across 170.2 innings. He originally signed with the Rangers as a minor league free agent in 2013.
Rushing Placed on IL With Elbow Inflammation
Rushing, 25, was scratched shortly before first pitch Monday due to arm irritation and was subsequently placed on the injured list. The catcher has appeared in a career‑high 74 games this season, batting .253 with 12 home runs and 36 RBI.
A second‑round pick out of Louisville in 2022, Rushing has played 127 games across two seasons with the Dodgers, hitting .234 with 16 home runs and 60 RBI. He owns a .278 average, 54 home runs, and 187 RBI in 268 minor league games.
Sheehan Optioned After Rough Outing
Sheehan, 26, was optioned to Triple‑A after allowing five runs in 2.2 innings Monday night, marking his third consecutive loss. He is 4–8 with a 5.29 ERA in a career‑high 20 starts this season, striking out 108 in 95.1 innings.
A fifth‑round pick in 2021 out of Boston College, Sheehan has spent three seasons with Los Angeles, posting a 14–12 record and 4.40 ERA across 48 games (43 starts).
Mills Designated for Assignment
Mills, 31, pitched two innings Monday, allowing two runs (one earned). He has appeared in six games for the Dodgers this season, posting a 5.68 ERA. Across parts of three major league seasons with Seattle, Kansas City, and Los Angeles, he owns a 6.14 ERA and 42 strikeouts in 48.1 innings.
Seattle drafted Mills in the third round of the 2017 draft out of Gonzaga.
