LOS ANGELES – The Los Angeles Dodgers activated 10-time All-Star Clayton Kershaw from the injured list and designated right-handed pitcher Yohan Ramirez for assignment.
Kershaw, 36, will make his first start of season this afternoon against the Giants. The southpaw missed 103 games as he recovered from offseason shoulder surgery. He made three rehab starts, allowing four runs in 10.0 innings and striking out 12. Last season, he went 13-5 with a 2.46 ERA, recording his 13th season with an ERA under 3.00. The three-time Cy Young award winner is 210-92 in his career with a 2.48 ERA and is 56 strikeouts away from becoming the 20th player in Major League Baseball history to record 3,000 strikeouts. The 2014 National League MVP was drafted by the Dodgers with the seventh overall pick in the 2006 First Year Player Draft out of Highland Park High School.
Ramírez, 29, made 27 appearances for the Dodgers, going 0-4 with a 5.52 ERA. The Villa Mella, Dominican Republic native has been in the Major Leagues parts of five seasons with Seattle (2020-22), Cleveland (2022), Pittsburgh (2022-23), Chicago-AL (2023), New York (2024), Baltimore (2024) and Los Angeles-NL (2024) and he is a combined 6-9 with a 4.51 ERA and 172 strikeouts in 167.2 innings. He was originally signed by the Houston Astros on June 15, 2016 as an amateur free agent.
