Houston, TX – The Houston Astros have added left-handed pitcher Colton Gordon to their 40-man roster ahead of today’s 5 p.m. CT deadline to protect eligible minor league players from the 2024 Rule 5 Draft.

Gordon, 25, spent the entire 2024 season with Triple-A Sugar Land, achieving an 8-2 record with a 3.94 ERA (54 ER in 123.1 IP) over 25 games (24 starts). He struck out 124 batters in 123.1 innings, holding opponents to a .238 batting average in the hitter-friendly Pacific Coast League. Among qualified PCL pitchers, Gordon led in opponent batting average and WHIP (1.22), ranked third in ERA, and fifth in strikeouts. He earned Pacific Coast League All-Star honors and was named PCL Pitcher of the Week twice in 2024. Gordon also started for the Space Cowboys in their Triple-A Championship Game victory over Omaha.

Drafted by the Astros in the eighth round of the 2021 draft out of Central Florida, Gordon has had a notable three-year minor league career (2022-24), with a 17-10 record and a 3.74 ERA (127 ER in 305.1 IP) in 69 games (59 starts). He holds a career opponent batting average of .226 and has amassed 353 strikeouts in 305.1 career minor league innings.
