CHICAGO – The Chicago White Sox have announced that current Major League Coach Grady Sizemore will serve as the team’s interim manager for the remainder of the 2024 season.

Joining the White Sox major league coaching staff for the remainder of the season will be Doug Sisson as bench coach, Justin Jirschele as third base coach and Mike Gellinger as assistant hitting coach. The White Sox have relieved coaches Charlie Montoyo (bench coach), Eddie Rodriguez (third base) and Mike Tosar (assistant hitting coach) of their duties.

Sizemore, 42, is in his first season as a major league coach with the White Sox after previously serving as a minor-league instructor with the Guardians and a coach with the Arizona Complex League Diamondbacks in 2023.

Sizemore was a three-time All-Star, two-time Gold Glove Award honoree and a Silver Slugger Award winner with Cleveland. He was a career .265 hitter with 252 doubles, 47 triples, 150 home runs, 518 RBI, 660 runs scored and 143 stolen bases in 1,101 games over 10 major-league seasons with Cleveland (2004-11), Boston (2014), Philadelphia (2014-15) and Tampa Bay (2015).

Sisson, 60, is in his seventh season as the field coordinator for Chicago’s player development system (2018-24). He also worked as the Sox outfield/baserunning instructor from 2013-15. Sisson spent 16 seasons as a coach or instructor in four different organizations split around stints in college baseball.

Jirschele (“JERSH-lee”), 34, is in his eighth season as a manager in the White Sox system and second at Class AAA Charlotte. From a noted baseball family, he has also served as the assistant field coordinator and a hitting coach in the Sox system.

Gellinger, 60, is in his 37th season with the White Sox organization, the last four with the Arizona Complex League team. He has served in a variety of roles throughout his career, including as a minor league manager, major league coach in 2011-12 and computer scouting analyst from 1997-2010.
